Seattle Mags - Powder Destination for 2/8

Looks deep with high winds and high avy potential. Stevens is the fallback for me, but its all about when the wind dies down.

    What's the call?

Stevens will be closed today and Xtal will not open the top or Northway. Looks like tomorrow might be the call with the rest of the hoards.

Rising freezing level is not looking good right now. Could be rain Saturday/Sunday at all the Washington resorts. Hit it today if you can. Positive vibes for the snowpack++++++++++

    Anyone want to tour Saturday?

The warm front offshore should lift over the
area overnight Friday to cause rising freezing levels with
the maximum warming early Saturday morning with the freezing
levels rising to near 6000 feet in the north and about the
same in the south with continued precipitation. This warming
and precipitation should initiate a widespread natural
avalanche cycle and we may be rising to an extreme danger
    level.

Did they open the top at Xtal??

From their site "The recent storm total is 106". There are 17" of untouched powder on upper mountain due to yesterdays lift closure. Come and get it!"

Roads to Snoqualmie, Stevens and White Pass are all closed right now, as of 12:45 pm. Mission (also closed) has been receiving sustained winds in the 60/70 mps range and gusts up over 100. Glad I got up there for the 15" of new yesterday

Stevens is indicating they are closed tomorrow to dig out.

Options are getting slim for tomorrow as I want to avoid the Mt. Baker banked slalom event. Could be too warm for Alpy, so maybe Xtal is the call...

Hope all the warnings keep the crowds at home so the goods are there for the PNW mags.

Fack. busy weekend at xtal I think. See you in the line. Look for the tall dorky guy with no lid skiing with 3 young sons tomorrow. If there's more than one group like that we're the ones with the kids skiing circles around dad.

Let's hope Crystal doesn't turn to Crustal after the increasing freezing levels expected tomorrow.
