Is it just me or does any1 else get annoyed by the term "snow skiing"
maybe its me but I can't stand when some people call skiing, snow skiing. I don't know its a small difference but it gets to me a bit. Like ppl who ski in jeans and a dallas cowboy jacket.
anyone else feel this way

I feel the same way.
And I feel the same way about "ice skating". Is there another kind?
And "ice hockey". Ffs, is field hockey really so popular that people might be confused if you just said, "hockey"?"Active management in bear markets tends to outperform. I don't live in the south, so I don't hear it much. Here in the northeast, there's pretty much just one kind of skiing being discussed.

This is stupid. If you were hanging out in florida and said you like to ski, they would think water ski. If you hang out in Salt Lake and say you like to ski, they think SNOW ski. If you live in California and you say you like to ski, it could be snow ski, it could be water ski, it could be blowin lines in the bathroom. It's all about location and context.
sigless.

I hate the word ---- "slopes"
"...how were the slopes today?" (grrrrrr)
"....I am ready to hit the slopes!" (grrrr)

I hate it when people say "the slopes". I don't know why, but it has always bugged me. "We are going to hit the slopes." I prefer to say "I'm going skiing" or "I'm heading to the hill". When people say "hit the slopes" I picture them in sweaters with black stretch pants and perfect hair enjoying hot chocolate by a fire in the lodge.

Whenever I answer a question or talk about skiing I use 'snow' or 'water'. Otherwise it just confuses people and you have to explain shit to them and its annoying. Just clarify what you do in the first place and problem solved.
Not all people have 1 track minds and snow ski year round. I prob water ski more than snow ski so for me a qualifier is needed.Don't be that guy. That guy is dead.

writing "any1" instead of "anyone" is annoying....
snow skiing isn't really too bad...but I don't like when people truncate snowboarding and call it boarding...let your tracks be lost in the dark and snow

Not really that one, but people who say "black diamonds" or "double black diamonds" bother me.
"I heard there is a really awesome black diamond run on that mountain! CORE!"Last edited by brice618; 02-06-2008 at 03:50 PM.

^^^I heard in the line at Kmart last weekend one woman say to another, "It's like the blues squares here are like black diamonds at Hunter." I wanted to scream.
