This is a summary of the most recent round (I believe it is as unbiased as I can possibly make it):

Dexter attacks Blurred in in Snowfire's patroller/abasin thread (promptec by splats request that he NOT attack there because the thread is supporting Colorado mag/min unity, Dexter attacks and declares the attacks will continue unless Blurred "makes ammends" for past wrongs (from the last 2 years or something)) much discussion, many people tell Dex to stop pursuing his vendetta, others defend his right to (counter)attack. Blurred counterattacks with such ferocity that Snowfire deletes the thread.

Blurred posts a thread to organize a Colorado mini summit to support Colorado mag/min unity.

Blurred uses a publicly available picture of Dex as his avatar and places the words "Prozac" on the image.

Dexter attacks the mini summit thread because Blurred had started the thread (though nothing in the thread was about Dexter (except Blurred's avatar)).

Dexter starts the thread "Hugeairdog: fucking psycho nut"

in which he cries foul on Blurred's new avatar. The thread reaches two pages, mostly of people telling Dex to stop complaining that he is being as bad as Blurred or is simply playing right into Blurred's hands. (at that point, different angle after next event)

Owens Never Sleeps arbitrarily and uncerimoniously deletes Blurred Eleven's account and announces that he has done so because of Blurred's new avatar.

(When informed by phone, Blurred states "So? I don't really care that much. It's just the internet.)

Many cheer for ONS's action. I however was offended by what I view as an abuse.

Some people agree with me but mostly people shit on me for attacking ONS and/or defending principle and friend. Some do speak well of Blurred and one mag/min intimates that she will not be posting here as a result of these events. The thread is at 7 pages with ONS wishing it would go away and many people trying to close it by hijacking it with pizza discussions.

Brett's Anus, a normally anti-Blurred and anti-me alias actually decries ONS's action, bumps all of my stoke threads with pics of Blurred (ex http://tetongravity.com/forums/showt...358#post139358 ), and declares his retirement because with Blurred, gone, the alias became pointless as it was created to antagonize Blurred. http://tetongravity.com/forums/showt...threadid=11000

Dexter declares that he didn't call for Blurred to be banned and that he doesn't support such censorship.

Any good conflict can go back and back and back with who killed who and who desicrated what. Their hostility apparently goes back for years.

This most recent spat (being that there was a lull in hostilities between the two for a while before was triggered by Dexter's comments against Blurred in Snowfire's thread.

Blurred is a friend, ski buddy, and damned good skierm, nothing more and certainly not an idol.

IIRC correctly, ONS said that Blurred stepped over the line with the avatar, but you are right that he says his decision was also based on the longstanding conflicts.

That is funny, unless the person who's in the avatar doesn't think it's funny. The thing about the internet is that all you have to convey emotions are the Smilies. There's no way to say, "F*** you, I want to kick your ass" and really get your emotion across. I'd be willing to bet that if Blurred could've seen Dexter's face when he saw the avatar, he would have removed the offending material, or at least appologized. It should be as simple as this: don't say or do anything on this board that you wouldn't do or say to that person's face. And if you need an alias to really say what you want to say, you probably shouldn't say it. It's like talking behind someone's back, making sure they can hear you, but disguising your voice.

Although I can't say I ever had a run-in with Blurred, I can, and have, said that his antics are, at the very least, annoying. I would never wish anyone to be banned, but anyone who has been here for a while shouldn't be surprised. If you want to complain that Blurred is getting the short straw, just remember that a lot more people dislike Blurred than dislike Dexter.

And don't blame Owens for Blurred's irresponsibility.

Very true, DuctTape. Over on pmag I used to get riled by a few of Brett's comments but came to realise over time that many of them were clumsily tongue in cheek rather than blatant attacks.

When his behaviour seemed to improve this year I almost posted a thread titled 'The Rehabilitation Of Blurred?' but ditched it when I stopped to think who could be responsible for the more offensive aliases in the light of the more considered, stoke-providing Brett.

Much as he deserved what he got, I'm still a bit sorry to see the back of him. Behind all that bluster and machismo could be a decent guy. I don't think he ever saw past the hard man act.
