Rode a lift with this guy the other day. The Hexel’s immediately grabbed my eye, and thought I’d be clever and grab some photo evidence. Only thing missing was orange Hanson Exhibitions.

We get to talking and guy tells me he’s 85, and this might be the last year he skis. Very nice guy, kicking it old-school. Turns out I was the gaper in this story.

I faced similar regret: i raced in high school when shaped skis were just starting to take over, but I was always on old school straight skis. The year after I graduated I demo’d shaped skis from the shop my brother had started working at and was like WTF! How was I not racing on these! Skied my old skis one more time and that was it, couldn’t go back.

Can’t imagine looking back on your life like that instead of just a half-assed H.S. racing career…

then:

And the deadpan 12 year old comes back with:
"I was only 3B off."

I just got back from a trip to Grand Teton National Park so I've been following a Facebook group dedicated to the NP and Jackson Hole. Someone just posted that they're going to be skiing in Sun Valley this winter and hope to visit Grand Teton while on that trip and what is there to do there in the winter? Someone pointed out that there's skiing and the original poster had no idea. I can't even...

This summer my wife was seated next to a military guy on a flight who was boasting his "ski trips out west" and "how good of a skier he is."

And one point he stated that "A Basin has terrain above 16,000'..." Facepalm.
