    I don't get why this is a gaper quote. For the most part, those kids on the Squaw team can shred. And depending on what "that" is and what the conditions were, it could make perfect sense to be hesitant or want wider skis for certain situations.

    Yeah + those skinny skis the coach was talking about were long AF. Modern ski lengths + skinny is not the same.
    TLDR; Ski faster. Quit breathing. Don't crash.

    He put the skis on and somehow made it onto the lift, but they didn't stay on for very long when he started heading downhill, at which point someone else heard him say, "I think I forgot to stand up."

    My kid did it that way. He found that skills required to pick 3-5 year olds up off the snow were good preparation lifting injured skiers on to a sled. The skiing skills not so much.

    Over the years, the patrol I worked picked up a few instructors when they figured out patrol got paid all day, whether they got patients or not. Also the skiing was much better.
