Not a huge day but a day just the same. And, ski conditions were possibly sporty.

A stranger comes up to me (no pack) and says, "can I ski with you?"
I say, not unless you've got a way back up, we're skiing down and then up and out.
    He says "I've got skins"
I say what kind of skier are you
    He says "expert"
I say well, do you know how to dig someone out?
    He says "yes"
I say do you know how to find someone?
    He says "yes"
I say do you know how to use a beacon?
He says "I don't have one".

    that's it, sorry...
I did chuckle at the end of the day with buddy though.

I drove from A Basin into Dillon with my ski rack open. Skis were inside, but I bet I looked dumb for a while.

    Not a gaper quote...

I was in the mammoth gondy with some dude who pulled out cologne and spritzed his neck.

    It was terrible....

Did that with the skis in the rack for a few miles. I didn't loose the skis, but man did I feel stupid and relieved all at the same time when I realized what I'd done.

    I can do better...
Leaned skis against side of truck while sitting on tailgate taking off boots, hopped in and drove home without my skis. Someone saw me do it and knew where I worked and dropped them off, was soo lucky haha.

Could've been worse; saw a guy lean his skis against his tailgate and then back right over them. Tires missed the bindings so they appeared to be ok.

pshaw After the first frikken' day using my new sticks in a puking Taos storm, I loved them so much that I ran over them with my car as I left the lot.

However, because noone was there to hear me cursing, there is no Gaper Quote material.

    Ooops, didn't see this:

Not so much a singular quote but rather a series of bizarre lies. I know a dude who goes around claiming credit for stuff I do. Ex.#1 I spent a lot of time last summer 'improving the forest' and dude goes around telling everyone he did it. Ex.#2 Dude goes around telling people he skied a couloir I skied when he has never even been there. Ex.#3 Dude tells other friends that we have plans to go on this big glacier traverse to ski a line. No such plans ever existed. Pathological liar = plethora of gaper utterances. Who knows what other B.S. has come out of this guy's mouth!

Alternate personalities for sure. Dude is/was a ski partner. Fun guy too. It just gets a little annoying when I repeatedly have people coming up to me saying that they heard that me and buddy did this and that. puts me in a very weird spot when I have to set the record straight. I'd like to keep the fun guy and ditch the liar but unfortunately that's not the way it works.

    Random gaper under lift 9 at the Luv today;
"I gotta work on my form"

To myself; "I gotta work on not sucking; form will follow".

Fashion dreadlock Prince Valiant haircut guy in a sporty Nissan Z at the top of Sonora Pass on Friday: "How do I get to Mammoth from here?"

I resisted the temptation to tell him he missed his turn and needed to go back to Kennedy Mdw.

i know it's kind of like kicking a puppy. but i couldn't resist snapping this photo of a snazzy Chilleno in the ski rental shop. The fact that it's a starter jacket AND Kansass University to boot. I was rolling!
Really bummed it's so out of focus. Guess i was too excited to compose myself.
