Finishing a run and a woman is standing on the side with her skis in her hand. I stop to see if she needs help. She does, wants to know the quickest easiest way to the lodge. I tell her, "ski down to this lift, it's a very short ride back up, then you can ski directly to the lodge."

She says "There is now way in hell I'm going back up this mountain OR putting these skis back on. How can I walk to the lodge?"

I tried to exlain that she would have to posthole the half mile or so to the lodge, or she could just do a tiny bit of side slipping to get there. I even explained how to side slip. She was hvaing none of it. An hour later, maybe more, I ski up to the lodge, and there she is, postholing her way in.

Awesome....but why not call ski patrol for a gaper-evac?

There were at least 2 more carabiners visible, and Hestra's dangling from them. I couldn't get the angle because I was really scared of him beating my ass like Spook said. Keep in mind this was on the front side at noon. He hadn't even been out in the snow yet.

I don't know - is it? The guy's an acquaintance from usenet days, and kind of a big deal in his nerd-world. But I'm unfamiliar with how cool path is or isn't, I'm a telemarking woods geek FFS. But I laughed about the skittle gangsta pants.
