People who ride the Lone Peak tram without skis when there's a 45 minute lift line. Want a view--book a window seat on the airplane.

Probably one of those tourists who faint at the top from the hyperventilation/lack of Oxygen.

But jeez, that's a long wait. Unless its a serious pow day, 45 minutes for the tin can ride has always been a hard sell for me.

Long wait but I thought it was worth it--but then as my son points out when I complain about long lift lines--I don't come close to skiing bell to bell any more. Certainly the best skiing on the mountain.

Lone Peak from the top is all double black. People who ride to the top without skis ride the lower lifts and ski to the tram, leave their skis at the bottom of the tram. They're skiers, not tourists, but not up to the runs off the top.

There's these things called skis, like shown in your profile pic, that transport people to where they want to go on ski hills, eliminating the need to hike.

Yep. I wouldn't expect Mrs. Paulster to ski from the top, but I would expect her to come for a ride up with me to see the view.

At lift putting skis on when lady asks me which ski is her right ski. I tell her it doesn't matter and she said her old skis were labeled L and R so she always knew what ski to put on. I politely explained the L and R, though it was clear she wasn't buying it. As I ski onto the lift she was still trying to figure out which was which.

They actually run the tram longer than they let people ski down--I don't recall the actual times but there is time for getting the view towards the end of the day.

That's true, they run it an extra half hour for scenic rides. Most people don't really know that though. The real gapers are the people who overestimate their abilities and end up having a gapefest on the peak, getting hurt or needing ski patrol to help them down. I actually admire the ones who have the guts to be honest about their abilities, ride back down and file past the line of judgmental brobrahs.

Are you in Big Sky now? I'll be there Friday, let's do a lap.

Yeah, well fucking duh, been there. Just amazed that a skier would go to all the bother of getting to the line, and then wait in line, for the "view". Like the "view" is so great. I think the view from the line is better.

Man, I don't know how to explain to you why views are great from a 11,000 peak in Montana.

Here's what Benny doesn't think is so great, a 360 view

Clear day at the top of lone peak is an amazing view. I'd rather have someone sit in the tram line with no skis knowing their limit then get up there and block the traverses or blow up on liberty.

I'll never be as awesome as core2 or whatever, but that being said, it is a pretty wild experience to be ski touring with a view of the Grand Canyon.

An Arizona gaper phenomenon I've noticed is that people drive up from Phoenix or wherever to the base of Snowbowl, get their picture taken, and then leave. That's it. No skiing.
    It sucks to suck.

That's what I'm getting at. I understand that. Or riding a tram from the base to see the view. I did it a very long time ago in Chamonix before I skied. But to ski somewhere, wait nearly an hour to get a view is a head scratcher.
