    Well, it's not completely wrong.

Was moving pretty quick and was going to squeeze by a group of folks probably 2-3 feet between them and the ropes on a cat gap. Just as I get to the back of the group, one old guy in the rear cuts off that alley-way. Severe brake jam, shear off a bamboo/rope section, and went down. But I didn't touch anyone, or even really get that close. I think the sound convinced the old man that I'd almost murdered him.
(I never call out that I'm passing. From a lot of experience skiing and otherwise, calling probably makes things worse at least 50% of the time. Just go, and be prepared to bail, if things go sideways.)

But yeah, passing on a cat track has its hazards.

Such a weird position to take. As if she's never passed anyone on a cat track before.

Basic broski recently drove over my tails in heavy traffic on the WB glacier road. The outcome was catastrophic for the DownEast community as most of Washington and Aroostook counties were blown off the map. I was not responsible for my reaction - it frickin says "Trigger" right on my pole.

Who, if a beginning snowboarder, was stuck, stopped dead on a cat track because he/she wasn't taught that you had to keep your speed up and actually pass people, or, it's unstrap and walk.

    He's either a gaper or a total bad-ass. There's no in-between.

Reminds me of that Jaded Local story several years back about "beatering" and seeing this guy with snowblades on the Midi in Cham and then the guy was just absolutely slaying legit stuff.

That's because they're not snow blades. They're really short skis.

    'approach' skis (?)

I have not seen an 'adult' ski in a 110cm since the short-lived GLM program Elans of the 1970s...

Only 3 months to International Snowblade Day! And the Annual Pain McSchlonkey Classic!! March 26, 2022!!!

I'm guessing that the equipment regulations are in the spirit of The Pirate's Code, "more what you call guidelines, than actual rules."
