As dry as things are looking around Tahoe right now, if we want a mud season we're going to have to truck in the mud.

Fortunately we store the mud in the shed with the moguls.
I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.

I got mud on my boots today--went the wrong way on High T and had to boot down some rocks and mud to get back to snow. But no mud in the parking lot.

Similar to the Apollo re-entry vehicles, you orient the broadside forwards so that an air cushion/pocket is formed and heat buildup from friction is mitigated. You don't know how fast that supervan can go. Seattle to Lot 4 in 3 minutes flat.

I've always leaned towards this type of setup. The added lift helps in breaking the ass end loose for smoother drifting through mountain curves and attention grabbing parking lot finale.

I saw one mounted 90* to that one, i.e. the skis going across roof

My buddy has a porsche with ski racks and I kind of teased him about it, until we jetted down to Mammoth for some spring skiing with our skis in the rack up top. Driving 395 in a car like that can be fun. To be fair, this is a secondary vehicle to his truck and he'd never drive it in the winter.

I like how the skis are placed in the rack so as to get as much dirt and grime on the bases as possible.

I won't put my skis in a rack anymore...I did it once this year when I was schlepping out of town family + gear out to the pass and back. Edges already had already rusted on from the road grime when I got home at the end of the day. That's easy to clean up but metal parts and pieces on binders less so.

Those hitch mounted racks that hold skis vertically behind your car are hilarious... I think it's kind of a flex/look at me kind of thing.

They spray the roads here [PNW] with some antifreezing radioactive slim. That's good on equipment.

Sometimes actions are better than quotes
Today at Hoodoo Ski Resort, Central Oregon's alternative to Mt Bachelor

I'm checking phone messages before leaving today, and hear this grinding sound
Look up to see this guy skiing into the chip seal and rock parking lot

Couldn't get the camera out and photo snapped before he got out of the skis.
I don't think those are rental skis

Note - Camo is the traditional colorway for outerwear at Hoodoo

A few weeks ago @ Hoodoo. This guy was running around the plot with no pants on yelling "Kate Brown(Gov of Ore) stole my dick!" Sorry no photographic poof.
    Hoodoo never disappoints.

Skiing at Breck last week. Going up Falcon Chair - see two ladies walking / sliding down under the lift carrying their skis. Ski down the trail under the chair (great spring conditions), see the two ladies and ski up to them. They are native Spanish speakers....I ask them if they are ok and if they need anything. One lady responds, "We are not black people......" I'm assuming she was referring to expert skiers as it was a black diamond

On powder days I am in an orange jacket with orange skis, bindings and boots. Not a deliberate choice--just worked out that way. I do like high viz jackets. I don't particularly like orange and it's kind of embarrassing really.
