Oh man, I remember my buddy in college saying "I thought the snow just fell that way."

A dude on the traverse track in the Trestle trees at Winter Park, who plainly didn't know how to traverse and was trying to plant his poles in the powder off to the side instead of on the packed track said, "I just need powder baskets for these poles; I can't get anywhere without them."

Not a quote but definitely a gaper, literally. Guy in a Suby doing 10mph going down a very icy old 40 from Donner Summit to Donner Lake, videoing the scenery with his phone with 1 hand, steering with the other. He did pull right over to let me by, which I appreciated.

First place I took my kid when he got his permit.
There's a good movie about Ty Cobb (called Cobb oddly enough) that has a scene where a reporter is supposed to be following Cobb from Truckee to Reno. They filmed it in a blizzard in deep snow on old 40 from the summit to Truckee. The way they edited it they were going downhill but started at the bottom and finished at the time. And when they filmed it it was bone dry with just a few patches of snow here and there but you sure can't tell.

I remember comin home from work at the Clair Tappaan and seeing A photo shoot of a skier airing the road just up from Blackwall. Can’t remember the dudes name but green hair and a big rockabilly Caddy that he was jumping over.

Mike Basich’s place there is pretty sweet, some cool vids showing it off.

That shit drives me crazy ....Those skis will be in a real garbage can next year after the kid brakes his leg. Dad then sues ski shop because the binding didn't release.

Used to work in a shop years ago and saw may come in corroded and frozen ......" They were fine last year "

Maybe they were using those 3D printed plastic pin bindings from the other thread before.

My dad, a gaper, said essentially the same thing to me once. He absolutely refused to believe that I could casually ski peak to creek in sub-6 minutes.

While Deer Valley is well-deserving of the snooty reputation of its guests and its focus on groomers, I have to say the terrain there is underrated. Had a really fun pow day there last season when LCC was closed.

Several years back I was staying in a friend's condo at Keystone right near the gondola. Skied elsewhere that day but later on figured why not take some night laps since it's literally like a hundred foot walk over. Rode the gondy with this guy who had already done over 100k for the day (he showed me on his phone)... this was right after they first came out with Epic Mix. Skiing groomers all day isn't really my bag but I have to admit I was impressed by the dedication. I think he may have actually been on a snowboard too, from what I can remember.
