Can confirm, pretty freaking rad to see the Matterhorn, Eiger, and Mt Blanc by just turning around in one spot. Rode it in the off season with a busted knee during a business trip. #beentheregapedthat

They went out through the tunnel with their friend who took their pictures with a pocket camera (ie not a pro foto shoot), as they rearranged their gear, tied in to coils, did various poses, then turned around, went back through the tunnel and down the tram.
How is a gaper different than a poser? IMHO, a poser just wants to look the part while a gaper actually tries the sport and is often too oblivious to care what others think.

Sounds like they were literally posers. Like, models posing.

You beat me to it, that was pretty much exactly what I was going to say. I think it’s kind of weird that lifties (sp?) wouldn’t have attitude considering what they have to put up with, like lame people that crash off-loading.

Mega line for KT today. Two young guys next to me. One keeps saying "we should have gone to Red Dog". The other one keeps saying "you said that 10 minutes ago." Over and over.

First time I was in a ski mountaineering shop the owner asked if he could show me some of the new skis. I said "No thanks, I'm a poser and came in for one of your tee shirts." I have progressed to a place of self aware gaperness with too much gear.

Hmm. This is one of my go to moves. If I’m not towards the front of the KT line I will go take a lap or two on Red Dog, then head over to KT without much wait. Works out pretty nicely and you get a lot more fresh untracked.

Nothing wrong with going to RD, done it many times myself. But the two guys arguing about it for an hour . . . . Some people in front of us were debating bailing for RD but thought they were too far from the back of the line. We assured them everyone would be happy to help them leave.

People are getting too jaded. Only the first few Fingers airs got any reaction from the crowd, and of those only the biggest. Some guy aired out the pinnacle to the right of KT chair near the top. Had to be 100 ft. He blew up on the landing. We yelled at him to clear the landing zone.

In Sapporo, talking to a somewhat snooty French guy, asked where we were from. We said Northern California. We asked the same. He said, "I come from a place called Mammoth Lakes, you probably haven't heard of it."

    1. No one who's actually from Mammoth would ever say "Mammoth Lakes."
    2. We already told him we were from Nor Cal.
    3. I was wearing a Mammoth t-shirt.

No he definitely was not. Whole group agreed. I was wearing a jacket so the Mammoth shirt may not have been that obvious. He was just a bit of a prick.
