    Our local Society For disAbilities runs it’s Winter Ski program at Dodge Ridge.
    Most of the time I am a lookout, but have tried being a driver of the sit-ski. It is terrifying when gravity grabs hold and you are screaming down the slope with this tender life in your ‘control’. Then you lean the sled into a carve, and their laughter and smiles make you burst with glee.

    Signing up with your local program will be one of the best decisions you can make.

    Hmm looks like there's a local adaptive skiing program 15 minutes from me at the local bump. Gonna try to volunteer next year (they have some required training days that this year would conflict with my kids' existing lesson schedules). This is very exciting!

    What if I'm doing it so I can hear gaper quotes from the developmentally disabled and report back here with anecdotes?

    Strongly encourage anybody near an adaptive snowsports program to get involved

    In the SW Montana region we have an organization called Eagle Mount that provides adaptive ski programs and they’re always looking for volunteers.

    I loaded a quad with a family of 3, dad and two kids last weekend.

    On the lift: "Hey dad, can I use your pole to clear off the snow off my brother's snowboard?"

    The family spent the whole ride up trying to scratch off snow of the base of a snowboard(I don't think the doing it to the top would have made it any better). I had a lot of questions on that ride up that I was afraid to ask.

    Last Saturday song with my 6 yo. First time with poles Street being for them the past few years.. Get to tower 2 and he drops his poles. No big deal I say we will get them later.

    A few runs later, still sans poles, he says with a smirk in his face, "Dad. Poles are hard. You need to know what to do with them or you might drop them." He proceeds to laugh.

    I guess I should have explained how to hold pokes on the lift.

    kids. and their kids...

    If one of you historians can bump ( and cross-post ),,

    ' Dad, what's gnar ? '

    ( end of the day,

    " Anything I ski. " )

    I watched a Family last Saturday at Christie, After Harry headed Home -

    I've known The Dad almost thirty year. a dear, great friend ;
    The Mom and I had never met, and She greeted me like an old friend
    ( " ... I feel like I know you." )

    The daughters will be eight, and will be six ;

    the mountain dog stayed Home with Grandpa...

    late afternoon, I saw them reload the chair , and trotted-over and asked The Dad If they would ' take a Break soon (?)'

    Yes ! The Mom agreed --

    I ordered a cheese pizza , onion rings, and cheesy fries ( it IS Wisconsin... ) !

    the daughters wanted pretzels.

    I will never have a better day.
    other Good days, sure. I 'll never have a better day .

    Thank you, Harry.

    Skiing isn't really my sport. It's just a front for my drinking hobby. I have a seasons pass to the bar.
