When i was a kid we regularly jumped on tbars half way up to beat the line and skip the flats. Grab the cord and ease back on to the bar. Easy.

If there are empty t bars there shouldn't be a line (if people know how to ride them, which they don't).

Not a gaper quote but . . . I did see someone skiing with goggles but with no lens in them (I bet they worked great!)

270's on hips feel fucking awesome on skis and bikes.

Saw a guy hiking up (inbounds) with his skis mounted A-frame style on his pack, except they were upside down. Tips pointing down, and strapped together in a "V" behind his knees. Seemed awkward.

Maybe he mounted the skis correctly but then put his pack on upside down.

Best Gaper qoute of the weekend?

At Mary Jane Sunday, two skiers on the chair with us above a bump run.

Skier 1: “Man, they sure love their bumps here. I have no idea why.”
Skier 2: “Well, remember, bumps are really good for snowboarders.”

Great skis in their day, second pair I've seen this season. More power to people who can ski them decently--I would guess still a good bump ski. But 40 (?) Look Nevadas? I think those were off the indemnified list before there was an indemnified list. I guess if you never fall . . .

Wikipedia says N57 first model with optional brakes but I have zero first hand knowledge. I never skied them, just admired people who did.
Ahh the joys of safety straps and long thongs. (For you young whippersnappers out there, long thongs are not a kind of women's underwear.)

I saw a guy last week with an iphone on his forehead and half-tucked in his goggles for what I bet was some sweet POV footie.

57 toes/17 heels. 57 heels went to the lip like modern technology.
Yeah forward brakes were great for harvesting limbs.

Overheard on an Aspen Mountain gondola a few weeks back. Me riding solo with a couple in their 60s, quaintly chatting to each other about a pressing social engagement:

She: Did you see the email from Sharon about hosting a Bloomberg event?
He: Yes, I did. It seems like a lot of work
She: I agree, but I think they have "people" for that. They'll handle with everything.
He: I'm just concerned about the guess list. If we can't choose who comes, I don't want to deal with it.
She: yeah, but it wouldn't be terrible to get closer to him. And I could put up with one night of people over.
He: Right, maybe he can do us some favors...

The last part was just bleeding with ego and greed. Maybe it was a self-styled NYC power broker mag I'm not aware of???

Somewhere there's a power broker forum, and they are talking about this gaper they saw in a goldola in Aspen, who didn't even have people to deal with the people who throw a party, and didn't have Bloomberg on his speed dial.
