    1. Sit down.
    2. Stand up.

    ???
I had a Norwegian mom and her two kids riding a lift with me a Snowbird. As we get to the top, I attempt to raise the bar and she refuses to move her skis from foot rests. We get right up to the ramp and I am yelling at her to lift the f-ing bar. She still refuses until I just slammed the bar and foot rests up at the last minute and was able to escape the lift. She then had the nerve to get mad at me for ripping the bar up and yelling at her. So yeah, it appears to be difficult to ride a lift for some.

Maybe she was just there to ride the lifts up and back down again. Did you ever think of that? Did you? Didn't think so.

If a chair full of adults (in america) brings the bar down on my head without warning (im tall so it hits me if i dont duck) i will hold the bar down far longer than is comfortable on the offload as payback.

And if it comes down when we're still in the goddamn bottom terminal, I'm keeping it down as we go around the top bullwheel.

I was warned about the Euros love of the bar, and was prepared on my first lift ride there, but damn they are quick. like before skis leave the snow quick.

Also, i had more topsheet chipping from 5 days in french lift lines than i did from a full season back home in america.

If you aren't prepped for bar droppers at this point, that is on you.

And checking to see if the seat is down has been recently added to this list.

Riding the Big Sky eight seater taught me to quickly "sit down & lean back" maneuver as someone aboard that lift will slam down the bar within a few feet of the loading station. Once the bar is slammed down, it is feet back to avoid the shin smash of the blue bubble coming down. The fun part is the bar locks in place so the slow get pinched gear or legs for the entire ride.

When you're taller than 5'6", the lean back is awkward a mere second after planting your ass on the chair. 3 seconds, that's all I ask for.

I am prepared for bar droppers... in a few cases they did it extremely early, almost before everyone had a chance to scoot their asses back on the chair. Everyone else - not just me - got pissed. In each case the guy doing it was on the inside of the chair swinging around so he got seated first and brought it down before I was fully seated, being on the outside of the chair.
