Back when I was a bartender we used to call New Years Eve “amateur night.” Still do. It’s when all the people that have no skills or practice at being drunk get sloshed and it’s a shit show.

I70 was messed up yesterday. I ended up at Eldora. So did everyone else. The percent of people that were on rental gear was incredibly high. “What should we do with our houseguests the day after Thanksgiving...I know, let’s take them skiing!” Holy crap. Was scary out there, especially with literally 5 runs open and everyone packed together. Just getting to the bottom in one piece was survival. Tuck and shoot for gaps in the gapers.

From now on, the Friday ski day after Thanksgiving will be referred to as Amateur Day in our household. I’m just happy no one I know was hurt. It was terrifying.

I'll ski the day after but only if there's good snow, not WROD. Had a great day at Kirkwood many years ago. On second thought--given the traffic shitshow truckee and north tahoe has become my day of Thanksgiving skiing days are probably over.

i did alta/Snowbird on a few Thanksgivings - if the upper mountain is closed still, the amount of Gapers to Avoid is Epic...
Still not as Bad as a day at Hunter Mountain/body armor recommended

I sold my 4x4.. not sure if I can put up with the Bus mess in cottonwoods... damn things show up to the parking lot full already..no parking spots after 7am . Standing on the bus for 45 min while holding equipment due to lack of ski storage,on a ski bus! gg Utah...Mormons are Morons

This probably isn't uncommon but a couple days ago I came across a guy in the middle of a run slamming his boot down onto his binding over and over. I stopped and asked if he was okay. "Can't get the damn boot to go in!" I showed him how to press the heel lever down to raise the heel cup so the boot fits in there...yeah, that's it. He seemed a tad embarrassed.
