Rossignol FKX heel is broken, FKS?

I bought some used skis with rossi FKX comps on them. After they were remounted, I was changing the DINs but one of the heels is stuck at 11. I've tried lubing it with motor oil and graphite powder, but neither time worked, even when I used a light drill. I took it to my shop and they couldnt get it to budge either.

I've got an extra FKS 155 heel piece from the same generation as the busted FKX. (It's the black and yellow one.) The FKX go up to 12, and the FKS go up to 15.

Is it safe to swap in the FKS for the FKX? If necessary, I can mount the matching FKS toe also.

    Thanks.

Take a huge screwdriver, put it in sideways, twist.

    Done.

The heel has to be popped up (boot in binding) when you are adjusting them.

Also, try WD40 or PB Blaster if it's actually seized.

I got a FKX 12 din heel piece ill trade for your fks15 heel piece if you want. The fks15 heel piece is most definitively heavier than the 12din fkx piece.

ps: Your boot has to be clipped in when you adjust FKS heel din or it will be very hard to turn and you might fuck up the inside!

In what way can you fuck up the inside? Just curious...

    Swap the heels.

I've come across ones where the DIN screw in the heel spins and spins but the indicator goes nowhere. Usually happens after poles chew through into the gooey innards.

AFAIK you can switch the heel pieces as Garrett said; same design, different spring, although if you set them at the same DIN they should release the same.

As far as switching the toe pieces, I would not recommend it. I am assuming the FKX toe piece is similar to the Rossi consumer toe pieces, i.e. plastic and with two 'wings' that release the boot from the binding. The FKS toe pieces are of different design, ala older Look and Rossi bindings in which the entire toe piece pivots to release the boot. Although you could get away with it, intuition tells me that two different toe designs should not mix.

As always have the bindings tested and good luck!
