There are never words to comfort you when a young person dies too soon but I always fall back on...
The brightest stars always burn out the fastest.
You were lucky you were there to experience the glow. I have a 19 yo daughter myself and these stories always make me cry. Makes me want to call her right now and tell her to be careful.
Sorry for your loss, stay strong for your kids and tell them you love them every day.Me, I want to live with my feet in Dixie

How tragic. I'm so sorry to hear this, iceman. It sounds like she was deeply loved by a lot of people, including you. My heart goes out to all of you. Don't forget to tell stories that will make you all smile or laugh while you are crying in her memory. For me, at least, I know that has always helped.

Sounds like she lived, really lived. When these people come through our lives each moment with them is wonderful, we immerse ourselves in them, and their personalities wash over us like waves. As the water washes away we're left with the taste of their salt on our lips, we take that memory with us as inspiration.
Sorry for your loss, but happy you have the memories. Filling the emptiness will happen.
fare thee well my bright star
i watched your taillights blaze into nothingness
but you were long gone before i ever got to you
before you blazed past this address
and now i think of having loved and having lost
but never know what it's like to never love
who can say what's better and my heart's become the cost
a mere token of a brighter jewel sent from above
fare thee well my bright star
the vanity of youth the color of your eyes
and maybe if i'd fanned the blazing fire of your day-to-day
or if i'd been older i'd been wise
too thick the heat of those long summer evenings
for a cool evening i began to yearn
but you could only feed upon the things which feed a fire
waiting to see if i would burn
fare thee well my bright star
it was a brief brilliant miracle dive
that which i looked up to and i clung to for dear life
had to burn itself up just to make itself alive
and i caught you then in your moment of glory
your last dramatic scene against a night sky stage
with a memory so clear that it's as if you're still before me
my once in a lifetime star of an age
so fare thee well my bright star
last night the tongues of fire circled me around
and this strange season of pain will come to pass
when the healing hands of autumn cool me down

There is no rhyme or reason in this sort of tragedy. I'm so sorry, Iceman...

I hate that we can't get out of this votex alive. I hate that kids have to die, and I really hate that Alex is not with you anymore.
I'm sorry for your loss man. I wish I could take the pain away, take the pain of all unnecesary death away.

Senseless and pointless. That fucking sucks.
Condolences to everyone who knew her, sounds like their lives will be little less bright without her.

Oh, man. I feel for you, your friends, your kids... Senseless. So sorry.
I've found it helps to focus on what you can do for others during this time.
Another reminder of how fleeting our earth-bound existence can be. Enjoy it, peeps.

Damn Joe, I am so sorry to hear this. Hang tough, my thoughts are with you. I know how difficult it is to lose someone close to you.
Death is the constant reminder to "suck the marrow out of life". Live each day as if it were your last and try to do something good for other and for yourself each and every day.
Sounds like you and your family all have such fond memories of Alex. Celebrate those memories. As long as you keep them fresh in your heart, she'll never truely be gone.Of all the muthafuckas on earth, you the muthafuckest.

I'm sorry for your loss Joe. Life is one weird thing to get saddled with. Hopefully you can have some drinks among friends and try to make a little sense of this or just let it out.
