In nearly two years of reading this forum only two threads have made me weep; when Shmoesmith lost his wife, and this one. We all know someone like Alex, and we've all experienced profound loss. It only serves to remind us how precious life is, and how the relationships we create with others make our lives meaningful.

    Find peace, Iceman.

    Rest in peace, Alex.

    Sorry to hear that ice...

I am the same age as she was. Scary stuff, and very sad to hear. Prayers for the family and friends. Her life must not have been a waste because she obviously affected the people around her. Remember what she taught you and she will always be around.

Stay strong bro. Thinking about it, I had a friend that was 2 years older than me die this last spring/summer. She was a really cool girl as well. Died in a car accident on the way back from an ultimate frisbee tournament that was out of state. I just had my wisdom teeth out the day she died, and needless to say, there wasnt any oxycodone left over after that week. She had an open casket at her memorial service. I dont really know what to say, what to recommend that you do. It is hard man. I will be praying for you.

There's not much I can say that will help... but know that I feel the pain and hope you, your family and hers make it through this together and come out fine in the end. My condolences.

Ice, this report floored me, not that it matters.
Fact is, that girl lived hard, in the best of ways, from what I can gather from this brief report.
I am SURE that hard-charging spirit affected many who interacted with her, for the better, worse, but more importantly, memorable.

I am sorry for your situation of some pain, trust me, I know from pain of death and loss recently...not that it matters a whit.

Celebrate her spirit, as it is obvious that you (and yours) are doing....

Danger tolerance can be a problem in and of itself. I've had a couple of friends check out early doing things that would have flashed a big red light up to most people, but as you say, these people are attractive people, they just burn at a higher wattage.

My condolences, Joe. Do all you can for your friend.

oh joe - I'm so very sorry to hear this. I'm not sure if I believe in the "'lessons" of death or not. Sometimes things just f'in suck. Dying at 19 - awful. I'm so incredibly sorry.

geez. tough to find words. saw this on my way out to the mountain this morning. i've been through some bumpy stages with untimely deaths as well, to say the least, and had some amazing help from friends and family. but fuck, times like these are so hard. try to ride it out, man, and help the family as much as possible. Obviously I don't personally know any of the parties involved. However, I lurk plenty to understand you are a reasonable guy. they're lucky to have you down in NC. stay strong, stay safe.

condolences to you and all involved. turns in Alex's name will be made today, may she rest in peace. my thoughts are heavy with the shooting stars of my life and yours.

Rest in Peace. Even if she packed all that living into that short a time, it doesn't mean it isn't a damn shame.

After writing what was probably too long a response anyways ~ it disappeared. Probably just as well.

J ~ beneath that gruff, Euro-jeaned exterior, you're a good guy with a big heart. Your buddy appreciates your being there for he & his family.

Ali & I love you guys. Hang tough.
