I usually call my favorite local hills for a quickie snow report before making decisions as to where I plan on skiing that day. We have all done this. You call the resort, typically use extension 1, and you are read a brief snow and weather report. Beautiful.
But, I f---ing hate it when the damn snow report line is not a reporting of the snow at all. A Basin is notorious for this; they use the snow report line as a marketing tool. I call the snow report line to hear how much snow was received, even if it was zero inches, a trace, 22 inches, whatever, report on the f---ing snow. Not at A Basin, they call this line their “snow report line”, some days you can hear how much snow accumulated in the last 24 hours. But from time to time some marketing wackjob gets a hold of this snow line and blurts out random, non snow and weather info, to the listener. Friday was a prime example, it was a powder day, and it had been snowing all week. On Friday morning when I called the A Basin line some broad rambled on for 10 minutes about the new Montezuma Bowl opening, no mention of snow. Its good info, but not why I f---ing called!!! Worse is that on Friday they never once mentioned the weather or the snow totals on the "snow report line". So now I know that Montezuma Bowl is opening, but I have no clue as to the snow totals received.
So that same morning I called the Winter Park “snow report line”, in under 60 seconds they told me they had received 8 inches and over 20 inches in the last 3 days. Perfect, I went to Winter Park.
Now on that day A Basin too had a substantial accumulation. I don't know what that number was, because the doofus on their "snow report line" never told us the totals. I f---ing hate it when I call the "snow report line" and don't hear info about the snow totals, instead I hear from a marketing dipshit behind a desk that thinks he figured out a great way to corner customers into listening to his mindless rants about Montezuma Bowl.
If you don't give me the snow accumulations on your "snow report line" in under 60 seconds I will go to another mountain.
That’s all folks
