Middle Fork permits might be tough to come by this year with the fire cancellations from last year.

This is the 1st year in awhile I didn't put in...Euro trip and Cr trip are sucking up my $$$ and vaca.

Storm, I assume you are talking about Juanny's permit. He invited me but I turned it down because I thought it was a bunch of flat water and a few class IIIs. Sounds like a waste of time in May, maybe a good idea in July or August but in high water....

I guess I am asking anyone who has done the Deso/Grey is it worth it? I will join you guys if it is.

Yeah it's Wade's permit. It pretty much is a bunch of II/III, but the play is supposedly awesome. And unless you LOVE mosquitoes, then highwater is the only time to do it. I'm hoping that we can also hit up Black Boxes of the San Raf/ Straight Canyon, or something on the Duchesne while we're up there.

We can hit the Cross Mountain Gorge with the playboats. The black boxes we would need a creek boat and thus have to bring two boats. I am not familiar with straight canyon and which boat would go. I told Juanny I am in, do you know the exact dates? Can I bring the dog on Deso/Grey?

Actually not really my permit... it's one of my good buddies, so not my call, but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get a Cat permit...they're pretty cake to get.

Don't know the exact dates...I think it's a May 25 launch. No idea on dogs though I imagine they're allowed.

And I dunno about Cross Mountain as a playboat run at highwater... but Straight Canyon would probably be killer in a playboat.

Yesterday I got my Middle Fork permit. I am stoked, I have only been floating a couple years, I've been on the main and a few other multi-day trips, but never the Middle.

Still waiting to hear from the good folks at the Grand Canyon. Fingers crossed.

Got shot down for the fuckin Salmon and Yampa, again. Got a San Juan permit, its a fuckin cool float. Awesome scenery. Tons of solitude. We did it at low water a couple years ago,end of june, and there were no skeeters. It was a fun time. Will be doin it again in early June this season,if no one else pulls a MF permit. Fuck,i want that one........
