Should rename The Face and make it The Luge.

If this is a description of a lift at Loveland, as compared to the other options there, holy cow!

I believe this is accurate. Totally worth it for the 400’ sustained vert of In the Mood.

Putting a double black luge run at the bottom of a big intermediate area with The Face makes perfect sense if you don’t think about it... Weren’t they going to cut a new cat track after one of the fatalities that closed it for the 2nd half of the season a few years ago?

I just straight-line it, hit the last jump and send it over I70.

The thing that makes 8 worth skiing is the hut on an April day*. Best place for burgers and beers on the mountain.

    * Except this season cause no grills due to the VID.

"In the mood" is the perfect run to bomb at Mach loony speeds, making 3-4 GS turns the whole way. It is super fun. It does make chair 8 worth it. I am always amazed at how many people confuse "tunnel face" (the best run at Loveland) with "the face" (the worse run at loveland).

Came here to say that exact thing. If you can't have fun doing that in the wind recycled pow or chopped up soft, then I don't know what to say🤷🏻

I mean... it takes two lift rides to get there (up 4, down a cat road, then up 8) and then it's 3 turns per 9 minute lift ride, then you either have to ski another cat road or down Facepalm to get back to any other worthwhile skiing once you get bored of those 3 turns.

I maintain that the pro tip is to not ski Chair 8.

I don't know man. Most runs on the ridge also consist of a cat road/hike to 3-4 turns as well, but that doesn't mean the ridge is not worth skiing. One of the best runs at Loveland in the spring is 13010 to rock chutes to in the mood to Super East Ropes/A Tow. They should really bring that little area back in bounds. So much better than facepalm.

When you hike for your turns, you make more of them. At least I sure do.

This was prior to installation of Lift 9.

Nice shot of Wild Child. Ahhh, those were the days before Lifts 8 and 9.

Here's a photo from Zip Basin last March after the lifts stopped turning but before uphill access ended.

It's generational. It just means you are OLD

I say that with the utmost respect for my elders, especially someone with as much history at Loveland as you!

First guess was Field of Dreams coming towards Tickler, but then I thought no... it's south of chair 9. Jelly Roll? No... Wild Child? Yeah, that seems right. Been a minute since it's been that filled in, from what I can remember.
