Not all beginner runs are equal difficulty, which I learned when mitten fetching for a season.
That catwalk is pretty rough for a true beginner. Narrow, steep, and icy compared to coming down off 2.

So they'll make the mistake once?

I don't know what it is, but those Poma fixed grip 4 packs (i.e., 8 and 9) seem to run at a snail's pace. Maybe it has more to do with the wind on 8 and 9, but the Lift 1 triple ran at a good clip for a fixed grip... much faster than 8 and 9 and somewhat faster than 4 and the ptarmigan.

Part of why 9 runs at a slower pace, is the chairs coming around the bull wheel were injuring (or potential to) lifties as they grabbed the chair.

You can see the line speeds of each chair here. (I assume it's maximum line speed, what the operators choose to run them at is another story entirely.)
Worth noting that 8 is 28 years old and 9 is 20 years old. Not exactly new chairlifts.

Wow, 9 is 20 years old? I remember being one of the first to ride it when it was installed. Now I feel old.

Sounds like they’re looking to expand cat skiing into Dry Gulch this season.

Loveland was fun today. Afternoon is the right way to WROD. Basically spring groomers. Sometimes i had to wait a whole 5 chairs. But mostly ski on/off.

I was told that I am the 1st skier to get 1st chair at Luv since 1999. WROD conditions were better than expected. So psyched to be on my skis and reconnect with the Luv family after 18 months of recovery from multiple TBI’s. Still have a lot more work to do but would be psyched to get turns with Luv mags when I can really ski again.
