I overheard someone ask patrol on saturday how far out chair 9 is. They responded "oh, we need METERS of snow up there". Made for a good chuckle.

Meanwhile, A-Basin opened Montezuma bowl including west-zuma this weekend.

Oh yeah. And it is so far from Denver. Not worth the drive over the pass.

    Nope 8 wasn’t open.

Zip Trail traverse was roped off @ Sunburst Chutes, 8 was spinning, and I did hear a bomb go off over there and saw patrol heading frontside from back that way as well.

Maybe this weekend they’ll open it?

    South Chutes were meh.

Went up late afternoon, about 3pm, and got a few laps on South Chutes. We stuck to the skier's left of that area, and I thought the snow wasn't too bad... edgeable at least and smooth(ish) from wind, even if you had to chop some broccoli. Further skier's right (closer to 9) looked bony AF. We did a lap way skier's left out towards Our Bowl, and it was really wind grabby. Buddy I was with had never skied that type of snow, it tossed him around pretty good. Overall it could be worse... I could be not skiing. Hoping to make it up for a 3-4pm ski tomorrow before continuing on further west.
The older I get, the faster I was.

    Punch it, Chewie.

    Damn he seems cool.

It was good! A bit slabby and not quite as good as 4 last week, but its always good to get some smooth, soft snow under the skis!

here's my son slaying some pow on 8 this morning:

It’s less nice today. Why is it that it can be sunny all around at Loveland, but wherever the actual sun is a giant cloud seems to park itself?

Because it wouldn't be Loveland if it wasn't cold and windy?

It was beautiful this morning, sunshine and no wind for a moment. Clouds rolled in at like 2:45-3ish. Looked busy but lines were zero to light. Nice day.

    Loveland tomorrow?

Had a perfect sunny morning skiing with my 9 year old. No lines whatsoever and decent snow. Alpine needs two good storms to get 9 open.

    Loveland tomorrow?

I thought the place skied great today. Lots of choppy soft snow that was super fun to rip through. They got chair 4 headwall open as well.

East and south aspects already feeling the effects of the sun by the end of the day.

Still pretty rocky off piste? Pic above of 8 looks decent. Probably heading up Thursday and debating if I bring the rock skis.

Rock skis needed for steeps under Chets. 4 and 8 are skiing pretty decent if you pay attention after the last storm. Lots of willows to still hit but fewer rocks.
