Happy Holidays PNW!!!
Looks like Santa got my Christmas wish letter:
WEATHER SYNOPSIS FOR MONDAY AND CHRISTMAS DAY
The Pacific Northwest continues to be affected by the strong westerly flow across the north Pacific. This puts the Northwest directly in the path of strong frontal systems crossing at the rate of about every one to two days. This pattern is expected to continue into the weekend.
A strong front moved across the area late Sunday afternoon or evening and was accompanied by rising freezing levels and heavy precipitation. Strong west to northwesterly crest level flow behind the front has maintained showers that have been heavy at times along the west slope areas at cooling temperatures.
The westerly flow should maintain showers at low snow levels along the west slope areas through the day Monday being possibly enhanced in the central Cascades from Stevens to Snoqualmie Passes in a convergence zone, mainly through midday. The flow should diminish quickly Monday evening to allow for decreasing showers as a brief upper ridge builds offshore.
A transitory upper ridge is expected to maintain a break in precipitation Christmas Eve and into Christmas morning providing light winds partial clearing and continued cool temperatures.
The next in the series of storms should begin affecting the region later Christmas morning and early afternoon. A strong westerly jet stream of about 130 kts off the Washington and Oregon coast should strengthen the front as it approaches the area later in the day. This should cause increasing strong winds and moderate to heavy precipitation during the afternoon and evening hours. The front should move across the Cascades during the evening followed by a period of moderate west to northwest crest level flow. This should maintain showers along the typical west slope areas through
Monday night at low freezing levels.
EXTENDED WEATHER SYNOPSIS FOR WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY
Strong westerly flow should continue Wednesday behind a
previous frontal passage to maintain showers at low freezing levels along most west slope areas. A strong northwest jet stream offshore should drive freezing levels lower to about sea level by Wednesday with continued
showers.
A brief ridge of high pressure should allow for decreasing showers late Wednesday and early Thursday ahead of another vigorous frontal system and surface low pressure expected to develop offshore. This system should spread increasing snow over the area during the day Thursday. The strong front should pass Thursday evening bringing strong winds and a period of heavy
precipitation. Orographic showers are expected Thursday night into Friday
along the west slope areas at low snow levels.
Yet another low pressure center is expected to move directly across western Washington Friday afternoon for another round of moderate to heavy precipitation at continued low freezing levels along with strong winds.

I found some knee deep pow both inbounds and out at Mission Ridge today under clear blue skies. Found a lot of rocks, too...
Not as impressive as what Z-bo's been up to, but not bad at all for Mission.
Saturday at Crystal was good to freaking fantastic (first tracks, waist deep off gun tower) depending on where you went. Hopefully the core shot I picked up in Bear Pits while the upper mountain was on wind hold can be fixed by Friday...
Any of you kooks going to be skiing Saturday?...Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain...

Xmas eve day Crustal had 9"+ ontop of a wee bit o' the namesake, but it was the honey beehive of goodness blasting faceshots. Skied virgin lines until 11:30 when we had to start crosssing tracks and mining pockets. By far the best day of the season with M. G Clark and a ripping shop d00d, Dylan, from Pro Skier Services in North Bend.
Rode the new chair, but it didn't piss me off as much as I thought it would, but lordy it lays bare all of North Back's secrets.

Enjoyed lap after lap of some quality powder at Stevens today. The only tracks we crossed were our own
Bummed I have to work the next 3 days - but I'll be batting clean up on Wed/Thu nights at Alpy.
Hooray Winter! Hooray Snow! Hooray Christmas!

Verrrrry good day at Alpental today. Deep over the head blower.
Stability is still an issue, but a quick block test on the deck revealed no hidden layers in the new snow since 8pm last night:
Buster and I were fortunate enough to put first tracks into shot 6, my best (legal, inbounds) run of the year.
Still coming down right now, 20" in the last 24hrs.
Happy happy.Move upside and let the man go through...
