clueless jong skins question
Hey guys -
Google isn't telling me exactly what I want to know, so I'll just take the flames. Got my first touring setup with Dukes on Praxis on it's way, just need skins for em.
No idea what I want, what's best, or what to order. Suggestions? I heard G3 Alpinist skins were awesome but they don't seem to go wide enough for Praxis... Just putting a Backcountry order through with a buddy and want to get it sorted asap.
Cheers,
Dave

I would say 140mm BD Ascension or Glidelite with the STS tail.
The general consensus is to stay away from the clipfix as it usually "sucks."
I'm pretty ignorant about G3 skins, but you can check out Marshal's site http://thegearguru.com and probably get a hell of a lot more information.

the praxis is 136mm at the widest,126mm in the nose....
my.02 I would go 130mm and save the cash.
it leaves u 3mm on each side( BD suggest 5mm from edge) u still get full coverage but u save like 30-40 bucks.

Just got home from skiing toady to find my new 130mm Ascensions STS waiting for me. Got wall to wall coverage on the 179 Fat BRO and threw very little away.

I just picked up a pair of 130 Glidelites from another Mag this weekend. Haven't even unrolled them to see how they line up, but its gotta be plenty wide. Sometime over the Xmas break I'll probably take the time to do any necessary trimming and take some pics.
Glidelites are lighter than Ascension. Might actually make a difference on a skin this wide.**

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

I started out with wall to wall skin coverage (minus buffer on edges), and have trimmed the down several times, taking material off of the tips and tails. I can still charge up steep skin tracks, but my skins are a little lighter and glide easier on the flats.
