Ok, here's what was written. You wrote that you had skied some extreme, your words, first descent line and that because of that the Neptune ski shop had bad customer service, or something along those lines. I wrote to you that it was a nice line but it wasn't what most would consider extreme. You wrote extreme meant if you fall you die. I wrote that you can die falling from a main road overpass, but overpasses are not usually considered extreme. I then asked you why you thought it was a first descent and what the name of the peak was. Then the whole conversation was gone.

If by "something along those lines" you mean "I have a complete inability to comprehend the things that I read," then yes, your analysis is absolutely correct.

Based on the messages I've received, I think I got it right. But who cares? What's your version of history? Were you there?

If someone has a place where I can put the files up...

I'd make them .doc but TGR limits it to 100K these are 200K

I considered it extreme as I did the route just down the ridge from it a week before with a member of the descent in question. The cliff and consequences were huge from my point of view. Extreme is in the eye of the beholder. The Sylvan Couloir was considered extreme as was the Messner couloir. Tardievel raised the bar as did Ptor. The line skied on Capitol by Davenport would fall into that category as well. Chris Landry skied the East of Pyramid and that was the apex of extreme in 1976. After that descent he coined or I should say was misquoted by SI regarding what extreme skiing is. "The you fall you Die" statement was said to differentiate the descent from a freeskiing descent. Perhaps it had been skied before, but probably not. I know of only one group to ski the North Face of Wheeler and the exit chute is only visible from on that face. The peak is the next peak north of Wheeler in the 10 mile Mosquito range. The North Face of Wheeler looks like a cliff from Blue Lakes Trailhead so most people don't know it's there.

    Now please lighten up

    1. Confused about you and admin. Sorry about that.
    2. There probably isn't definition of extreme, it might be a you know it when see it. The photo you had though is not like the Messner or Orient or anything in that whole area. They are classics but not in the upper realm. Isn't the Messner the Sylvain anyway?
    3. Have you ever skied a line by put in by Tardivel or Ptor? Do you even know them?
    4. I've heard about the mountains around Aspen, but this wasn't near there was it?
    4. Not to bust your balls, but the basis for the first descent was only your knowledge?
    5. What was the name of the peak?

Its a very nice line. I don't understand why you brought into a conversation about a ski shop though. Take your own advice about lightening up.

If there were any doubts about the shitty CS at Neptune before this thread then it is glaringly obvious now, stupid employees coming in here, not trying to do cool shit like "oh damn, sorry about all the bad experiences, here have some deals/pro forms/whatever" as most companies tend to do here, even without scathing reviews present on the board. But they come in to lambaste us and throw out lame attempts at positive reviews for their stores.

Next time post after you think it through. If you're going to post in threads about your crappy service post apologies, not rebuttals.

    You FAIL.

Did no-one else notice that superstar did not know what size ski boots he wears? All ski boot shells and liners only come in ten mm jumps. It's a big jump if you don't like the fit you must custom fit the boot or buy one that fits out of the box. Pretty basic stuff here any first year ski shop employee knows this and tries to explain to customers but every knows more than the people who do it for a living, because after all the are superstars.
He special ordered a boot he never tried on then did not want it. As I said earlier customers that have problems at retail are customers that don't know anything about the equipment they buy. And they don't take the time to find out they just blame everyone else.
At least I know what size ski boot shell I ski in. The only people that don't know what size shells they ski in are hacks and teenagers who foot is still growing. Don't you kids have class to go to.

Alright I finally caught up with you guys. All eleven pages and now I'd like to chime in.

Having been an owner of a small restaurant and having worked at many small businesses including my current position in a local ski shop I'd like to say that the customer is USUALLY right. I have, in very rare circumstances, booted customers from my establishment for being inappropriately rude to myself and my employees. My view was that they (the customer) were buying a good or service from me and not buying the right to treat me or my employees like shit so I told them to take their business elsewhere. Instances like that were VERY RARE and I think that the customers I told to go away were probably mentally ill in some way.

I also used to work in a cube answering phones for Symantecs (Norton Antivirus) customer service and we would occasionally get the extremely irate phone call from some guy who just lost all his info to a virus and the first words out of his mouth were something to the effect of "You fucking cocksuckers fucked up my machine". To which I would reply "Sir, I understand your frustration but I'm going to have to ask you to conduct yourself in a professional manner or I will be forced to end this conversation." (that was the company policy towards lewd behavior from irate customers)

My point is that there are RARE circumstances when a person ceases to be a "Customer" and is really just an asshole that needs to leave. However, good customer service means that you try everything in your power to satisfy the customer above all things. If that does not work and said customer no longer wants to be pleased but instead wants to take that opportunity to unleash all their frustrations with their life on you then its time to cut them off. (IMO)

That being said, when a customer comes into the shop I'm currently working at and requests to pick up their order I stop whatever I am doing and begin my search. I will turn over every box and package to find (or not find) their item before I say whether or not its there. Thats my job. If I can't find the item for whatever reason I find out why its not there (hasn't arrived yet, wasn't ordered, out of stock, customer is confused and didn't order anything from us at all) and then inform the customer. I know it seems like basic common knowledge that I would do that (being that its my job and all) but it never ceases to amaze me how incompetent some people can be.

Incompetent people or not I find that getting irate or being a condescending asshole towards a customer or an employee goes nowhere fast. I find that the best way to handle other peoples incompetence is with calm and stern competence on my part. Thats right, sometimes you have to be competent enough for two people (sometimes more).

It sounds to me like the employee was incompetent at performing his job and Adimmen was incompetent and getting his point accross.

I'm gonna go to sleep now and go skiing in the morning.

I probably needed a 26.5 anyway but it shouldn't be this hard to get service.

how exactly is someone supposed to try on a boot that isn't available except through a limited pre-order. If this is normal for you guys, then I would love to come in sometime soon and take a look at, flex, maybe even demo the new g3 AT binding mounted on black diamond's new reverse camber ski. If you are half as core as you seem to think you are, then you will be able to hook this up no problem.
