The only rideable trails right now are Left Hand (only the south-facing stuff not in the trees), and Bitterbrush at Hall Ranch. Later in the week you could see a few more open up like Dakota/Morrison Ridge and maybe some of the stuff around Devils Backbone. I doubt anything like White Ranch or Apex/Chimney will dry out until sometime next week.

Oh, and it's windy as fuck in the foothills today.

Had a mind-blowing time at Silverton this weekend. Got a last second heli drop on Sat to an all time run down a coulior past the Grande. Had to be 18" of blower. Sunday was good (and hot) once you knew which aspects were skiing well. Two laps off Tiger were sweet when you had cold snow one side and corn on the other.

FKNA - we watched the first two groups drop in from across the ridge. I later texted Hawkgt and said "Whoever scored the Sandwich zone today had the run of their life". Glad it was a maggot!

Hey sorry. I wonder if anyone wants to go to Monarch. They close April 11.

Yesterday, it probably was. I got out for a quick ride on South Table and was surprised at how dry everything was, including the trail on a north aspect that usually holds snow/mud long after the rest of the stuff there is bone dry. But... I've got about a beer can of snow on my patio furniture this morning here in Applewood and it's still snowing. So that's gonna reset the dry dirt clock at least a few days.
The older I get, the faster I was.

Just a dusting up here north of Boulder... the roads are already dry.

This morning was great st the Beav. Good snow and nobody skiing. First tracks on my 7th grouse Lap at 10:30. Putting in the track to get out of the elk was a chore this morning.

Had a friend with some vail comps so went there for the first time in forever. Some crunch underneath but great day. Good to get some powder turns before spring rolls in hard.

Turns were soft at A-Basin, but the rocks were hard.
Hit one hard underfoot on upper east Wall (narrows?)
Had to take apart my boot at the end of the day to get it off.

Tale of two seasons in EC. Prior to Feb. 1 was grotesque. After that, pretty solid! I'm coming around to the idea that snow frequency is more important than snow volume.

Arguably best snow of the season up high in Breck yesterday. Easily 12"-14". Two days of wind prior smoothed everything out. Then no wind and blower snow, man it was good.

Eldora was pretty, ahem, hard today. A little soft stuff in the trees but kinda grabby.

With the impending warmup, we are firmly in "ski when there is new snow or it's nice and warm" territory, and "avoid at all costs when it is cold and not snowy unless you like going fast on rock hard groomers".

Most of pali was still nice and soft this morning, definitely grabby. At one point I kept going but the skis did not and yeah. We'll see what happens through the weekend, some of that terrain can hang on for quite a while but it is going to be downright hot.

Yeah. Avoid those cold, overcast days after a warm sunny day at all costs. Brutal.

So about the grabby snow - is it time for a wax? Different color?

Red, though Sat and Sun could probably be yellow days
