seems like it would be a good idea. No Pueblo or Colorado Springs to kick in any money. I was just talking to the forest service guy who used to do the timber sales, going to forward him the article. Going to have to look closer at what is going on at Monarch next time I am up there. You tour down here?

Sounds like the program is a pilot so I assume if it's a success they'll replicate (of course not a safe assumption). And yea not as much $ but would think maybe the state would chip in. You won't be able to miss it - right now due to the fall line clear cut in stripes it looks like a forest zebra but have to imagine as the article states it's going to be a big positive down the line.
Still recovering from an injury inbounds at wolf creek so for now I'm just a regular pass traveler who would love to see the area remediated before it burns.

Now I remember your injury. Hope you are healing and can ski this winter. As for now and the trees lets just hope the snowpack continues to be deep enough to cover the deadfall. Wishing you the best on your recovery,

Thanks a ton for the wishes! I think I'm mostly there...hurdles probably half on the mental side for this season but I intend to lace em up.
In weather news, seems like colors on the Peak to Peak were about 80% there yesterday. Covered almost 6 miles in Wild Basin in the afternoon and was nervous about crowds but barely saw anybody, guess when you can get your insta shots on the side of the road, why hike? Also - CO 7 is mostly closed from Lyons to Allenspark, no idea how I missed that.

Could actually see the fire from my place on airport rd in Breck. Didn't realize what the heck the big orange glow was at first, surreal.
Rain the new week should be good, it's already clouding up dark this morning.

Cooler today, rain tonight... just have to hold off until then. They have a fixed wing and CH47 attacking yesterday with a MMA overhead.

I'm wondering what started the fire. Looks like it could be near the bench on the Ptarmigan trail maybe. Otherwise, hunters? Either way, I'm pretty sure it wasn't lightning. I don't think the high tension power lines are too close to where it started.

Epic pass sales went up 42% for this season. Should be all time at Breck and Vail!
