It would be a long shuttle, but I believe you could drive in the back way to spring creek through Taylor Park. I'm not sure exactly where the bridges/closure extends to though.

Glad I got my Dr. visit in a couple weeks ago!

Well shit. Was supposed to go to Gunnison tomorrow, I have a feeling that's not happening.

    From Gunnison Dispatch:

    CR 26 Brush Fire

8/2/24 at 9:00 p.m. Due to a brush fire on CR 26, traffic releases are suspended until further notice so that fire crews can work in the area.

60s and rainy today. Great for the fires. But kinda weird for August!

You can get to it from the Taylor side. Dirt in that area (Doctor's below Matchless) is a peanut butter-y tire clogging mess at the moment with all the moisture we've been getting.

What's the local take on all that plan?

So damn ambitious. Adding a telluride style gondola is genius.

Silly me wheres the part where they will make a contractual agreement to build 800 units of low income housing?

How about the part where they are pledging to help design and pay a percentage of the cost for highway upgrades and interchanges. And maybe throw down some long term funding money for the bustang and Pegasus programs.

Fuck these cunts. All their dicks need to be slapped around fuck this non stop development all of the state with no real thinking is bulkshit

There is absolutely nothing new in the PR/marketing spew. Generally, I think it is good as there is terrain/capacity expansion and the gondola a part of public transportation/getting to the ski area seems like a good idea.

A couple thinks as I understanding them. Alterra/Winter Park is pretty much out of parking options at the ski area. Its all FS land. So you get private land in town. I think there is an attempt to chase some federal funding similar to how the ToWP got grants for the transportation center and the new bus barn.

CDOT and the Feds have told Grand County don't hold your breath on Hwy 40 improvements. Fun fact, it the 80s, there was a proposal to divert 40 onto Kings Crossing and the town turned in down. So we have the proposed Fraser Valley Parkway as an unfunded long term alternative from Tabernash to the new Gondi by way on the bus barn.

We have water and we have land already platted for development so that basically just becomes "Use by Right" my understanding is that this is a bit different than Summit and Eagle Counties for example. The Subdivision Improvement Agreements are in place and the preliminary plats are done. IMO, every lot served by a municipal WSD with capacity will be development. The Town Boundries of Fraser and WP are pretty interesting.

Speaking of memories, Beavers Lodge. I used to manage the ski shop back behind there that shared a building with the snowmobile rental outfit. The Lodge and the Lodge employees where bottom of the barrel back then. It was just a low brow ski lodge in the mid 90s and everything that came with it.

And no, its not a historical structure worth saving. Neither is the barn on the 4 bar 4. And as mentioned, none of this shit is a secret. The Sky Hi article talks about Roam Phase 1 being 218 units. If you know the geography think about everything on the East Side of 40 from CR8 to Rollins being developed. That is all private property that is platted. And, my opinion, that is why the Fraser Valley Parkway, Gondi, and Transportation plan are so important. All that traffic needs to access 40 between Fraser and the Ski Area. And it sounds like the State mostly doesn't care.

Sadly I have been on my mtb only like 10-15 times this summer. The dirt bike has been so damn addictive.

Complete opposite for me. Dirt so good this summer compared to least year's dustbowl. Good dirt = mtb. Bad dirt = moto. Still have 40hrs or so on the dirtscoot. No complaints.
