Bet my parents are glad they sold their Sampson Rd in the foothills and moved to centennial, it's currently being evacuated for a fire in Deer Creek Canyon.

Serious question - is someone starting these intentionally?

I've always thought a terrorist could wreak havoc on a vast swath of the West by lighting fires.

We've had no lightning in the area at all. They are also seemingly away from roads and campgrounds.

serious answer - nobody in here could possibly know the answer to that question unless they were the arsonist.

when things are as dry as they are right now, as hot as it is, any number of things could start a fire, not just lightning. could be human caused but with no intent. could also be a human with evil intent.

Word on facebook is that the Lake Shore Fire (Gross Res) was human caused but not intentional.

Got lucky last night as the quarry fire laid down. Helos back today but no big boys again yet with all the competing priorities for air support. Shouldn't have to evac as long as it doesn't jump deer creek canyon rd. If that happens, we're fucked.

Morrison fire was caused by a bird hitting a powerline. Fucking birds.

Confirmed in the press conf this morning that there is an active arson investigation ongoing for the Quarry Fire. Zero details.

Deer Creek Road bulldozer/handline holding well. Firefighters are kicking ass.

Not sure where else to post this, but if you like riding Doctor's Park (and who doesn't), you might want to do it now. Here in the Gunnison Country, we like our bridges repaired. So starting Aug 5th, spring creek road will be closed for who knows how long while they repair two bridges. you could still access it with a big ride including Bear Creek, or try not to get run over doing it as an out and back.

We did it once as a point-to-point shuttle from Taylor Res. That section from the res almost to Dr. Park was a moto'd out mess.
