Restaurants in Pagosa are open for both in-dining and take out. Some are shut for a couple of days mid-week, though. Plenty of hotel rooms available from what I can see.

Thanks! I’ll look into getting me a thermos before I head up too.

Its absolutely great if you happen to live within 30 minutes or so. You might wanna reflect on some previous life choices if you're actually considering a ski trip there though.

IDK man, I used to take trips there all the time. When the lake effect machine gets cranking, laps down Tiger can be as good as it gets.

I pretty much lived there in my teens and early twenties. I think they have had a hard time getting much open in December the last few years though. From what I've heard the lake effect isn't near what it used to be and major temperature swings have messed up the season there a lot.

Reserving Dec. days to ski there since other resorts are booked seems crazy to me unless you're already in the region.

Full trip report if you do it Dee Hubs

I skied 40-50 days a winter at Boston Mills (and some occasional Brandywine) when I was growing up (mostly 1989-1995ish) and “absolutely great” is not how I would describe a single day there.

You know why you run into so many people from Ohio everywhere? Because the smart ones leave.

Yep. It's really funny when we visit Ohio. Her dad gets it, but mom? It's non-stop, "you know what was invented in Ohio", "you know who is from Ohio", "you know what business started in Ohio". As if we're going to move there if she says that stuff often enough.

Where is BMillSkier to comment on skiing Boston Mills? Seems to me he might know something about something up there.

Back to Sam’s today. Skiing with my daughter and her friend (and her dad). Who knew teenagers could be so cool?

Things are starting to get sun-affected. No signs of instability. I probably won’t ski again until we get a refill, but there’s plenty of good skiing out there, especially in the alpine.

I’ve had a good early season down here in SW CO.

We didn’t dig any pits today, but there was about 15cm of the newer snow (from Tuesday) sitting on a pretty significant sun crust (East face, around 11000’). No whumping or fracturing or any signs of instability.

Nice morning out there, maybe this next storm is more than a refresher?

I did a recon trip to one of the 2020 burn areas, still tons of thick sections, but there are some intriguing lines that may be worth a second visit when better covered (and officially open) Click image for larger version.
