Just saw this from Summit County's Facebook page

We just received the green light from Colorado Avalanche Information Center to begin clearing avalanche debris from the Tenmile Canyon Recpath. It will take a few weeks, but we're excited to get rolling. The Tenmile Recpath will remain closed for the duration of the work. Vail Pass Recpath, between Copper and Vail, is fully cleared of snow and open to the public. Thanks to our partners: Town of Frisco, U.S. Forest Service - White River National Forest Colorado Avalanche Information Center - CAIC! http://www.summitcountyco.gov/civicalerts.aspx?AID=501

Skied off peak 1 a month or so back. As we scrambled over one of the larger debris piles we encountered about 20 engineers and government people. It did not look well organized.

Made that lap yesterday, while stopping at every brewery and the distillery. Such a nice ride, should do it more often.

Who here is involved with Clear Creek 911, emergency dispatch?

I was coming down mount Evans on Friday and the full complement of Search and Rescue came rallying up. I see that a call for “rescue involving vehicle rollover near MM14 on HWY 5” on Alpine Rescue’s website but no other details and no news stories that I could find.

    Curious what went down.

Better that people ask online later than looky-loo as they drive by and slow traffic or cause more accidents. Of course there is only so much information that anyone could reveal online without going through an agency PIO.

My SO has been bugging me to get out for a short backpacking trip. Any votes on where is high enough to have good scenery and nice weather, but not be completely snowed in? 3 day, 2-night kinda affair.

Yep -- awesome area this time of year and in fall. We've done the Lost Creek loop. Perhaps there are some other bits in there worth exploring though.

Lost Creek is a super solid recommendation, particularly for a few nights.
