A friend of mine is on month #212 of consecutive skiing. He skied Fourth of July bowl in Breck the other day and said it was one of his top 3 worst skiing experiences.

    Hot

Looks like about 3-4 weeks ahead of the typical schedule in the indian peaks. Brainard lake road is closed, unlike usual, so who knows if the annual Mt Toll ski will even happen for me.

Northern CO is a little better, but like I said above, weeks ahead of typical schedule

Jones pass has some skiable lines - drive up access too (skied Tuesday) and just hiked Torrey’s today and there was some solid 800 ft runs if you wanted to get after it. But pretty damn thin!

Wheeler trail south on the bike this morning had conditions usually seen around july 4th. Totally passable with only two manageable snow plugs. Even scoping Wheeler pass with my monocular, looked totally passable. Silver lining to this early summer/fire season I guess...

There is a high country (MTB)ride we never even consider until July 4th. It's our reprieve during busy times, never see a soul. Best semi tech DH around. Rode it last week.

So yeah, shit is pretty much GTG. I even heard that Monarch Crest is dry and that was from Absolute.

401 needs another week or so, for anyone wondering.

In other news, Gunnison and Uncompahgre NF finally went stage 2 today, so no fires...

Still some skiable lines up in the IPW. Hiked to diamond lake last weekend and the trail still had a bunch of super muddy patches and even some snow patches up high, although that area gets a shitload of wind loading in the winter so I assume these were just leftover drifts from the winter

Sounds like it’s just the shaded climb and the usual snow plug around the lake. I rode around upper double top and hunter creek a few days ago, totally good. Going to try star pass next friday

Speaking of that snow plug by Emerald Lake: last summer I was up there and saw two gapes screwing around on the slope to the west of the trench/trail through it. They slipped and almost slide into the deep ravine below

Guess I'm not surprised given the hype 401 has. haha It isn't even usually on my radar when riding down there, so many better options.

Rain held out for the Dispatch show last night then came down late last night. Hoping for another bit this afternoon, but at least it is much cooler.

Yes it was. Just starting another wave, albeit a bit quieter...for now at least.

Although got an alert that there is a mudslide blocking WB 70 in Avon, and a Frontage Rd. Mixed blessings I guess.

Does anyone happen to know how far Rollins Pass Rd is reasonably clear to? Yankee Doodle? All I could find online was someone getting about 60% up about a month ago. Sounds like West/Winter Park side is open. Thx!
