30" base? Yeah... the steeps will be closed for a good long while given the short to mid-term weather outlook.

They’re closed because of high avy danger. The Butte is buried.

Thanks for your perspective. Do you think they'd open it after they do some avy mitigation work?

Latest I heard was that there was a weak rock layer in there and patrol was afraid it would slip. I’m not sure they’ll open the extremes until the summer when they can get in and do some rock blasting.

Ugh. Is that why Loveland doesn’t have their Ridge open? Usually bootlicking helps that.

Just the first 200 cars and only if you have less than 4 people.

Just the beginning. Next year it’ll probably be the whole Early Riser lot.

    More greenwashing from a resort.

And what environmentally friendly vehicle can hold 4 people plus gear?

So how do they determine if you're car # 198 or 201 before you waste time dicking around on a powder morning in traffic line. They should have built extra lots years ago. Great foresight Henceforth.

Now, most'd say that the folks in Summit county knew a swindle when they saw one. Bo and Luke weren't afraid to let the Sheriff know.

    and now for no reason...

I read it as the 200 eastern most spots, not the first 200 cars.....makes it sound like you can still get there early and park on the western end of the lot for free. I should probably adopt a kid or teach my dog to talk just to ensure my 4+ family.

That’s how I read it too. You can still park for free near the Pali lift, but in fewer spots. It’s not that big a deal and doesn’t matter to me personally but I don’t like the trend that we’re seeing. It’s also kinda fucked up that they too are rolling this out after passes are bought.

The difference is that they have plenty of other free parking and a somewhat functional shuttle which allows for people to have options. If people want to pay for front row parking let em. Have you priced a beach spot lately? Paid parking isn’t new for A-Basin, granted that’s more than just a parking spot, but it was a better scene when people who cared got up early to earn a spot. Anyway, I digress.

    A 30mpg car with 1 person is 30mpgpp. A 15mpg car with 4 is 60mpgpp. Suddenly my van with 6 is a fucking Prius.

True. But I don’t like the trend. Next year it’ll be the whole Early Riser lot.

We knew it was coming after taking 50%+ of the beach (most spots just sit empty). They will pull in an $4k per day on weekends and holidays. “Objective is not to make money”. Sure. Once they see the numbers at the end of the season the entire lower lot will be paid (via a kiosk) for next year.
