They have not been very forthcoming with the details which has made for a bit of confusion cuz we know something happened and they are not being forthcoming. Rumors swirling. Blue sky closed again today. Sad news regardless.

Bummer for the guy in Vail.

Did a Backcountry tour in my neighborhood this afternoon.
Shit snow, rock hard wind crust over storm slab.
That scary moderate is right... I couldn't get it to move at all, anywhere... But digging thru the crust revealed a huge storm slab on top of facets.

If it goes, it'll go big.

I raked the roof this weekend. It came down a lot easier than some years.

My final long range snowfall forecast for the season. Decent pattern for Colorado going forward with snow in the short term, and then potentially some more heavy falls for Sunday week and beyond.

Some of the instagram stars are nailing full on slide terrain and it looks like premo pow. People going to push it after seeing that.
This is the extent of my social media so luckily it doesn't affect my decision making. That said, I challenge those clowns to rationalize there choices and explain why they are right and the avalanche forecasters are wrong.

If you are just going for it and that is a risk you are willing to take...own it. Using your education, knowledge and experience to get closer and closer to the edge is a strategy that has proven the fair in the last few month.

I ain't trying to preach but lucky can and does run out. The morgue has plenty of proof.

    Stay safe!

Yea a lot of us are the opposite of impressed with that guy. Especially those of us who have skied with him. I told him what I thought. He blocked me. He is more arrogant than he used to be and unable to take criticism. He IS the human factor.

    Quite the post last night

Will be at the basin today, worried the ikon crowds may be a bit heavy since the basin was blacked out the past two days but they don’t really ski the good stuff, right?

    Wasn't that a TLC song?

Edit: Waterfalls, not tree wells. Close enough.
