There’s a ultra snobby mom at my kid’s school in Denver who wears this one all the time. I hear she can ski Avanti:

That would be Chris B. I went to college with him. Kind of a tool back then... I think he lives in Vail now. So core.

Well I guess talking about tacky hats makes sense since it doesn't look like it's going to snow until April.

Anyone see friends of CAIC's post with the POV of the loveland pass avy?

The level of riding among backcountry skiers/riders is astoundingly poor these days. I really try to reserve judgement concerning avalanches since it's always "hard tellin' not knowin" (also since you guys really did it for me a few pages back here haha), but the guy could barely even make turns before it even happened.

With all these superthreads, I lose track of what was discussed where. So those of you that backcountry ski please check both the Jones Pass and Loveland Pass incidents from yesterday.

I get the feeling that we all do pretty good with our Culture of Safety. Please, please, please...speak up both in person and in other online communities to encourage conservative decision making. I feel that we have passed the inflection point and are losing the battle.

Believing your own bullshit and ignoring the Avalanche Forecast & Discussion is becoming the new norm. We need to own the fact that this isn't sustainable. If we keep having CRAD and SAR deployments and deaths the appetite for us to keep doing our thing will disappear.

Oh I don't. A lot of the most oblivious and cavalier skiers I know are painfully straight-edged.

Hard to tell exactly from the POV (and it’s been a few years since I was in the area) but was that person skiing skiers right of Idiots?

Its on the book of faces. I think it was "No-name" peak above Pacific bowl. SE facing. Big line for this time of year. I kicked one off on it a very long time ago.

Adrenalated did a really good job of talking to that guy in the avy on FB. Maybe he got through to him.

You know that there have been multiple large human triggers avalanches lately right? We love to look for patterns and convince ourselves that it couldn't be use 'cause it doesn't look like us. It's a fucking cop out. There is much less commonality than people want to admit.

Uh, ok, not sure what your point is and why it's directed at me. There was a specific one mentioned here because the GoPro video had been recently shared on FB, and I was responding about that. I don't have any illusions that if we could only get through to that one guy, all our avalanche problems would be solved. But maybe that specific guy will stay alive.

Adrenalated was great. Hopefully it gets through. Sometimes a near miss is a wakeup call.

The individual in question has been posting many hyper agro (for conditions) vids and pics and responds to all criticism with "but muh risk tolerance!!!!" and the usual "I got it all figured out you couch critics don't even know" BS. The video this individual posted on FB of this avalanche starts with them booting up the ridge drinking Coors Light while they hike with an intensely annoying soundtrack follow by cutting out a chunk of cornice to "control" the slope.
