Copper was knee to thigh over the head blower up high. This was my deepest day of the year.

yup. went to Loveland and met up with a buddy who drove up from Bailey. We got our stuff on right in time for them to close for the day. He went home, I went to Copper. got 3 laps in on Tucker, some of my best turns of the year. I think tied with the 12" day I spent in Mirkwood at Monarch. Well, not really. The day I spent at Alta wins. Day 63 today for me, wish I had gotten up earler and drove to Aspen Highlands like I meant to. Berthoud it is, I guess.

Anyone hear anything about a slide at Ajax? Heard some people talking about it on mountain at snowmass today but couldn't tell if it was usual mountain BS or if actually happened.

If you want to get a happy feeling in your pants, read the long term NWS forecast discussion for the CO mountains. "Measuring snow with yardsticks"....

The portion of the forecast discussion smmokan is referring to:

Precipitation will wane in intensity on Thursday evening through
Friday morning, before the second portion of this event arrives. A
deep trough is currently progged to pivot through the western CONUS
from Friday into Saturday morning. Impressive upper-level
support, a strong vort max, and favorable moist orographic flow
all combine on Friday evening for what could be a particularly
impressive snowfall event in the mountains, even by the lofty
standards set so far this winter season. Warm temperatures will
continue at the onset of this event and a higher density snow is
expected to start. However, by Saturday morning temperatures aloft
crash and snow ratios will rise considerably. Tonight`s 0z GFS
run is particularly impressive, indicating wraparound snows in
northerly upslope flow continuing through much of the day on
Saturday. If tonight`s 0z GFS were to come to fruition over the
course of the coming week, we will be measuring snow totals with
yardsticks rather than rulers by Saturday evening.
Nice to finally be stuck in a long snowy pattern for once.

    Mirkwood was open today
Rode up with a couple guys from Gunny who had been lapping it all day.
Fresh lines all over the place but really getting wind hammered/loaded
They were skiing lodgeview and east trees b/c Mirkwood proper was just getting wind scoured
Monarch was getting NUKED as I left around 3

Full on blizzard up there; they ended up shutting down Breezway early b/c high winds

    Tomorrow should be excellent.

Copper was amazing today. Trying to decide between basin or copper for tomorrow. Could be some real good hiking options at the basin in things like janitors and bald spot. Also if east wall opens. Sounds like the wind is coming.
