It's already melting so fast here in the Elk's, but yeah, I'll take the band aids every time they come.

Anybody been out on Jones Pass/Butler Gulch area onto steeper terrain recently?

Have my eyes on a steeper line on Parnassus but haven’t been up that way in a bit

I’m gonna brave the wind tomorrow, should keep the crowds down at least and you can probably ski all day long even with the warm temps on the windward side due to the wind making things colder.

Skied Breck yesterday, having come up from Durango. It's like a whole different world than the San Juans right now, dramatically snowier. Also, the alpine was fantastic.

The basin leaving the epic pass has been a big win for breck with the addition of late season skiing here. Almost zero people out and lake chutes/peak 7/peak 6 is extremely good still.

Snow was really nice up on east wall yesterday and the groomers were perfect yesterday morning. Went back for some more today but the wind was ruining my vibe a bit. When pali starts blowing sideways the skiing is going to need to be a little better for me to want to deal with that.

Damn I saw the smoke but thought it was the prescribed burning. We walked the dog up there yesterday.

I saw that and thought today was a bit breezy for a prescribed burn... anyway its out. No flurry of text messages from dispatch or anything, so I have no details.

Was climbing at Haus rock and figured it was just controlled burn. Does seem silly to be doing controlled burns with high winds forecast for many days afterward.

Vail Town Council votes to condemn the workforce housing project in East Vail.

Fucking NIMBY hypocritical bastards... didn't need a dime of taxpayer money and the project was previously approved. Remember folks, rich people and semi trucks don't bother bighorn sheep, only poor people are a threat to the environment. Vail Resorts vows to fight.

More than anything, I hate the bullshit. Next up, protection of the Boreal Toad. Its almost like they'd rather spend tax payer dollars on their taxpayer funded corporate welfare workforce housing projects. Can't have a precedent set that private business should pay their way.

Fraser/Founders is such a piece of shit! They couldn't even frame the hallways straight with steel studs. But yeah, architectural complexity costs money. Its an apartment building. I believe it is in the Town of WP but they don't even follow their own rules. We will see how it turns out.

Big picture, I'd love for it to put pressure on the local businesses to quit running to the tax payers whining about the worker shortage. Your business, your problem. Pay more.

really is amazing that some businesses are still holding on to low pay rates and wonder why they're stretched so thin. A shirt shop I worked for at one point here in breck is still trying to pay people $13-15 an hour when they make multi-millions a year on products that usually have 70-80% margin. They're only offering $18 an hour for management as well.
