I’ve been cutting down some trees and have a stack of firewood I’m giving away. I ask people what they want it for and if they say fire pit or wood stove here in town I let them take some. If they say camping I tell them no. They seem confused which bolsters my point of view.

It's moving so fast. It was cresting the ridge 45 minutes ago and it's halfway down the mountain now. Those houses will be burning within the hour. The downslope winds are ripping.

I hope everyone got the fuck out

I hope Jamestown can be saved. Was there after the flooding in 2013. Would hate to see the town destroyed again.

Insane how quickly the outflow was moving, hope folks in Jamestown and surrounding areas made it out and the damage is somewhat minimal...but it's hard to imagine. They just got done wrapping up infrastructure repair from the flood too.

Jesus. Appears the winds while not completely calm will at least slow down a bit...hopefully thats meaningful. Have to imagine there are serious resource shortages right now with all the activity in the state.

Apparently it reached 36 south of Lyons. I would expect Heil Ranch is burnt?

And yet I saw two separate hikers today smoking cigarettes. If we love America do much why are we such assholes?

    Colorado Weather Discussion Thread

Watched from Gunbarrel ridge , insane how fast it is coming down the hill . I counted at least a dozen houses ablaze in spotting scope.

I was at Jodar / Heil area yesterday about an hour after the Calwood fire started. Went from 1 acre to 7,000 acres in 5 hours, now at 9,000 acres and zero containment this morning. Hard to believe that where I was standing around 2pm was likely burned by 5pm. Seemed so far away at that time.

Are these starting from embers in the air from Cameron?

Crazy. Sad to hear Heil was burnt.

Did the area get any rain last night/today?

There was a little bit of moisture on the east end/lower elevation of CalWood this morning, don't think it was as impactful as the much needed reduction in winds. That said today above 7K feet or so it's sunny and windy and sounds like this Lefthand burn is making a big run. Definitely shitty developments the last 24hrs and hot/dry returns this week.

Evac area getting pretty big. And the burn area seems to have 20+ homes in it, with confirmation of structure loss.
