You had to work for it a bit, but Air Steamboat was providing soft landings all day on Friday. Maybe 3’ of fluff to drop into. Click image for larger version.

Those pics are probably the most accurate representation of Steamboat I've ever seen.

Just back from Colorado. Have to say I picked a decent time to be there. Vail on Thursday was pretty good. Pretty good, indeed.

Too busy to take any photos while skiing, but this sort of sums it up.

Thought you weren't coming this side of the hill. Could have said hi at least. Thursday has to be one of the better days in the past few years. At least from my vantage point at work.

Wind overnight was magic for Loveland today.

I've given up trying to ski powder inbounds in the Front Range. But I'll take soft windbuff, smoothed bumps and no crowds every day of the year.

The new lift on 1 means I can ski my legs out in 2-3hrs. What lift is more efficient in vertical to time to steepness? The new HSQ is 990' in 2.6 minutes.

    Fuck.
We drove in for the day from Breck after seeing the snow report. We made the right call for sure. Only thing that sucked was one of my friends broke his collar bone that day. Skiing back to chair 5 and caught an edge and went down on his shoulder. Right at the lift. Riding the lift back up he's like "this doesn't feel right. I feel something moving in my shoulder that shouldn't be." That's the reason I shot this at PHQ. He'll be out for a few weeks, anyway.

Technically no: 332ft/minute vertical @ Birds of Prey vs 381ft/minute. In reality: probably just as or more efficient.

    Santiago @ Keystone is 364.

to combat the hoot in Annie in the I 70 bitch forum. I offer photos. This weekend did not suck. Plenty of far off places to still go. And when you only see three people after the trailhead parking lot it's money. And the snow. ..

    Ridiculous East Vail pics. Fuuuuck!!

It’s definitely money out there and there are infinite places to go to escape the hordes. Most tourons are just programmed to do the same 4 mountains and towns.

Damn, that is too bad. Hope not a season ender.
I sometimes get kicked around right before that west/north entrance when I am gassed from the run. Surprised I haven't taken a bad tumble there...yet. Sometimes I drop right in on top of it which is better.

I think he'd only skied a couple days with his Epic pass, too. Haven't heard yet what his prognosis is. The doctor at Vail suggested since the break was near the end of the bone it could require surgery. He lives in the Bay Area, so hopefully the Tahoe resorts have a good Spring snowpack and he'll be able to get in some late season skiing.

I believe he can get a partial re-imbursement on his pass for next year if he is out. Worth the call.
And thank you for leaving something for me. Just spent the day today and I was freaking amazed of all the leftovers I found. Reported 1" last night so my expectations were low but wanted to get out there. There is a ton of powder that got missed by the throngs.

Lastly, which mag is this? Naughty boy.
