Next week will be $$$ for just about anything if you're riding (Teo, Strand, 403/401, Doctor's, etc). Stuff out Kebler is still pretty green, but other than the Dyke, there's not much riding out there anyways.

I might have to get over there again next weekend. CBMR is probably 10 days out from peak, if I were to guess. Too bad bike park closing day was today

Best ride <20 miles long between Steamboat and Rifle off of 40?
Making a trip to Steamboat tomorrow and figured I’d camp/ride on the way home. Not opposed to staying closer to steamboat but my knowledge of rides in the area is zero and ya'll know way more than I do.

Flash of Gold to Grouse in Steamboat? I'm not familiar with anything else west of Steamboat that's off Hwy 40.

North Fork to Coulton Creek. Otherwise known as Scotties Run. Gorgeous. Needs wheels on it since it’s been forgotten with all the new trails. Go help bed it in.

So is 409. If you like riding in scree fields. And yes, there is a bike trail in the photo.

This would be my recommendation as well if you like techy trails (grouse ridge). Here’s some inspiration from last fall from Grouse

Huh, I like 409 to pt lookout rides, although 409.5 is a little blown out compared to years past. Oh well. The new middle cement (old fenceline) trail, along with waterfall cutoff, is a good fall ride in cement creek in addition to some of the standard stuff already mentioned.

Anyway, I'd definitely say this weekend will be peak, at least closer to town. Kebler is always a week later.

I’m a punter on the mtb, but had a great time at Howlelsen Hill in Steamboat this weekend. My boy was racing for his high school and some of the trails were closed, but I was really impressed with the trail system. NPR from top to bottom was sooooo fun. And the colors were fine.

It's not what Crested Butte does for you, what do you do for Crested Butte?

It requires some level of effort like hiking, traversing or being able to ride a Tbar without falling in order to get to some steep terrain. Plus the views and lack of I-70 proximity.

I don't think Fred was talking about the ski area specifically, I think he was talking about the whole package.
