Oh, it's been wet here too. I went up the peak a couple of days ago and the valleys still look like it's May or something- emerald green everywhere. but it's been hot, and it's roasting right now- as hot as it ever gets around here.

I just got lucky that from spring creek pass to the finish (which are the largest high alpine sections) I had perfect weather. Everything before that though, not so much hah

On hot days like this I wish there was a bike park with fun trails accessed by a lift, right near Morrison or Golden (IE old Heritage site). Someone: make it happen.

The SNOTEL site nearest to my house is still below average for the water year, so we still need the moisture. The last couple weeks have been nice, but I'd prefer to not see the sun again until April if I had my druthers.

I've pitched several people on the idea of just running pipe clamped hooks on the side of BME chairs even if they only sold $15 single haul tickets.

I got a Keystone-ish answer "OMG how will guests load their bikes??????? It will be tooooooooooo hard for the customer!"

I think once you do that, you need to take some level of responsibility for the people you put up there, i.e., bike patrol, etc. I also think you would need to do the same to the top of Lenawee, otherwise what is the point? Its 450 ft of vert, you could ride up in 20 minutes. I am also not too keen on them providing super easy access to the Lenawee trail. I say leave it alone.

When I'm not broken I ride Lenawee 6-10 times per summer. I'd ride it even more if I got a halfway boost, but I'd really ride a lot more Wheels Up and other frontside trails. Abasin would see ticket and F&B sales, good for business. That zone is not in danger of being loved to death at all. I don't see any issues with needing to keep traffic down, and the real climb for Lenawee is after BME. This isn't a pow stash, it's machine built IMBA style front side bike trails for heaven's sakes, made to handle high traffic!

Abasin operates on privately owned land as well as USFS leases, so I'm not sure why they would suddenly required to have any extra capability with bike haul on BME over what they are doing now. They have patrol staff now and run BME (and other means) to get people up/down the mountain: hikers, wedding guests, high ropes guests, and via feratta guests to use trails, features, routes that Abasin made. So why not bikes? They are already spinning the lift!

Look at the Copper, Breck, and Beaver Creek bike ops. Currently these are absolutely minimalistic in terms of bike patrol, just like Abasin, but they do ofter far more lift vert than a bump on BME would offer.

I would be more concerned with crowds on the Lenawee. That one is a historic singletrack not designed to handle a ton of new traffic. That said, I am not concerned because I think it would be unsafe or the tread couldn't handle it, but because it is currently a nice spot, close to Denver, in the alpine to ride your bike. Despite how well known it is, it honestly currently doesn't see much traffic even on weekends, and the climb is the reason. Even providing a bump on BME would increase traffic a ton...you said yourself you would ride it more. I would hate to see the downhill/shuttle crowd take it over.

Knocking the easiest 500ft off a very steep 1700ft climb that still requires a car shuttle (or else it is a 3400ft climb) is not going to clog Lenawee Trail and is not a concern regarding bikes on BME.

arguing about keeping scummit county pristine and worrying about overuse of trails and being concerned for the natural environment around here is almost laughable

I actually care what skiracer thinks, even if I disagree. I don't anyone care's what you think, except on the occasion where you are mildly entertaining.

Last thing Lenawee needs is a lift. Maybe a nice single track to the top instead of the grind of a climb would be nice though. PS, I don't think that there's anything stopping anyone from E-biking it if you really don't want to do the climb.

Get off the beaten path and Summit County is spectacular. There are millions of acres of mountains. Maybe it sucks if you get all of your beta from "Out There Colorado".

It is a blessing to have such incredible access to the mountains so close to a booming economic center (Denver).
