If you ride early in the morning and it's still frozen, you'll be fine. It's late afternoon, when everything is melting, that's a problem.

Fine - make the parkrats pay. They're living off mommy and daddy anyway.

Waiting till late afternoon helps - the snowpack settles in the sun and you can see the bumps from the larger rocks.
All good points. I guess I didn't really notice the snow pack prior to this last storm, I don't remember it being so bare but that before picture doesn't lie.

If Keystone actually is going to start charging for parking I will stop skiing there entirely. Only reason I ski there currently is because you can park 100 yards from Peru for free and lap the express lifts. Fuck that place if they charge to park.

It’s definitely my least favorite of the I-70 mountains but paymaster is a sweet groomer !!! Can’t really complain about fast lifts with long and fast groomers. It makes a great warm up for an hour or 2 before heading to ABasin

If parking drops Keystone crowds drastically, it will make it a nicer place to ski on the occasional weekday pow day where it is at/near the top of the new snow... VR would probably back off charging for parking at non-peak days though.

I was just giving shit. Skiing is skiing. I don't hate Keystone for the mountain, I hate it for the excess of people there.

I would not be surprised at all if Keystone and Abasin start charing for parking in the next few years. It's Vail's MO. Abasin isn't owned by Vail (directly), but they sure are trying hard to emulate them these days.

They are? Opening rad new terrain instead of condos and expensive restaurants?

Keystone's bowls and the Outback are certainly fun and not crowded. Hot lapping the front is obviously where all the crowd is.

Yeah, "rad new terrain". People have been skiing that terrain since before you were born without a lift, clearcuts, or any of Al's bullshit. The place can't even handle midweek parking anymore but they keep adding terrain. And the "Expensive Restaurants" threshold was passed many years ago.

Butler Gulch skied decently for this morning for Thanksgiving with fairly dry/warm start to the year. Happy Thanksgiving all.

Lots of pissed off locals who put deposits down so they could get up the hill and play being that Vail listed it as a summer activity.

Did Vail give a shit and try to relocate those baskets anywhere else? I'll let you guess.
