Forecast doesn't look good. Glad I went over this week. Canon city has some great trails.

Splendid today, too. 6 chair and Tbar are on tap to open so says my patrol friend but hoping it holds out, Breck is always good at fucking it up by doing it’s opening on a Saturday.

From a friend of a friend...an important early season reminder.

‘So my dad and I were skiing down the front face and saw a snowboarder hit a hazard and stop. We went down to check it out and wait with him. He had a compound fracture and started bleeding out of his pant leg. We called patrol and when they cut open his pants his leg was torn open by the stump. Patrol got there quick and after about 40 minutes he’s down the mountain and in the ER. I’m still shaking.’

Man... skiing trees with less than a 50" base at Front Range resorts is inadvisable. I know... they look so tempting... but I try to stay out of 'em until 50" as a general rule.

I wait until a 60" base before really pushing the throttle. Even in rope drop scenarios, I have found some stumps and rocks that could do the same. Enjoy the powder, avoid the season enders.

A-chair rope drop at Copper was stupid deep.
So deep you pretty much had to straight line it down. People were getting stuck up to their chest. Not going to forget about that one. Unbelievable storm skiing.

My Bent Chets were perfect. But yeah, people were out there skiing waistdeep with 80 underfoot and having a bad time.

Any truth to the rumor that the feeding frenzy from the rope drop on Pali today resulted in so many crashes with skis lost in the pow, that the patrol was loaning out shovels?

From a slide or the deep? On the rope drop for Too Much/Triple Treat etc, it was so deep in places, people were getting tripped up and swallowed all over the places. Lots of lost skis I heard.

Slide. Near the traverse to get into Enchanted Forest it sounds like. I'd post a pic but I'm on mobile

    Just saw it online. Crazy.
I saw some cracking on some convexities while making first tracks down Far East yesterday. Sketched me out a little.
