How dry are the trails down around Salida? Looks to be warm down there this weekend. It's that or the WROD.

I went up yesterday with the pup for some 3 pin kick and glide. It was very thin. Rocks on the road in spots. Folks were on skins, but didn’t see a single turn made. Nothing worth skiing on Jones Pass. I turned around when it starts to gets steep in Butler gulch cause fish scales, so maybe something worth it up higher, but I’ve seen enough lower leg fractures from November skiing that I wouldn’t risk it.

My son and I built a kicker on BP over the weekend and had way more fun than looking for turns on a 4” base.

Huh -- photo from a friend skiing it yesterday didn't make it seem that bad.

Jones usually blows in early...I bet it's fun plus you can probably drive really far.

I totally get that, have to start every day with a bunch of deep squats so I stop creaking. Anyway I am determined to get my legs in shape early this season, driving over to Loveland shortly.

Anyone else in northern CO get that 1/2" ice layer last weekend? It was in the Park Range (Rabbit Ears) on 11/5 and covered by a few inches on 11/6. Didn't see it further south around Gore Pass.

Haven’t been up to Cameron yet but I heard from someone that Montgomery was a little sketchy right now, might have also gotten that ice layer.

I was out there Friday and I would say there was a lot more than 4" of base. I definitely grazed a rock on my first lap, but that is what rock skis are for, right?

more stoke about skiing sticks and rocks in the ECRC thread than around here in the colorado moaner thread

consistent one inch storms almost every day as the great PH who skied in a camo one piece would say "don't discount those one and two inch storms they can add up to a foot"
and just to get the moan in thanksgiving is going to be hell on earth up here since moab is "cold" and the front range is shitty veterans day weekend was kinda silly round here
