Ended up skiing a few laps on the fire road, no base damage and good snow, quite a few people had the same idea

I did a quick lap around there this morning before going to work. First face shots of the year for me. Tomorrow could be good for ski launching paragliders in north boulder.

My parents house in Deer Creek Canyon topped out at 30", that area is always a super magnet for upslope storms.

There are some nice retaining wall drops over there. I've wanted to hit the ones on the bike path on the west side of the reservoir right off of 93 too.

Next storm looks bigger than most any storm I've seen in a long time. Gonna have to leave CO to get the most deepness.

    Colorado Weather Discussion Thread

Drove up Flagstaff Road above Boulder...about 3’ up there, with a bunch of cars just left for dead in the middle of the road, on that steep pitch near the overlook. Just huge mounds of snow to navigate around. It felt apocalyptic.

Monarch opener (full time) yesterday was nothing short of fantastic. Still had to be leary of sharks, but it felt great to do some 'real skiing'.

Their snowfall reports are full of shit. Not representative of actual snow on the mountain.

Silverton's snow report can be a little misleading but I'm not sure they are lying this time. Skied Red Mountain on Turkey Day and then Coal Bank today. Northern aspects on Coal Bank had 30+ inches easily. RMP had a real good base on Thursday and this storm dropped a lot up there after I headed back to Durango for turkey. A lot of snow got blown from upper elevations down into the trees yesterday. Apparently the Eagle station near Red Mountain Pass had a 105 MPH gust yesterday, which is nuts.

The snow pack is very touchy though. Lots of whoomping and settling today.
