just got back from Hooper. Steady stream down the gunbarrels. Getting passed going 65 people in a hurry. Van lifers filling Shaw Creek rest area. Looked like a holiday weekend in Moab. Gonna be Epic. Looks like avie control tomorrow morning bonus for South Fork. Heard Sunday is going to be a locals appreciation day although did not see it on their site. Just checked shows when you reserve your ticket

Covid+ weak winter everywhere else in CO+ powder starved masses + lots of pow + Saturday= gong show. Are they *really* restricting capacity? Because if not, this could very well be their busiest weekend ever.

Wet, dense snow here in boat land. Smelled of rain all night last night, and it was warm. Just started to snow again, it's currently 34 degrees here at Strawberry Park. Everywhere I shoveled earlier today is now just soaking wet, bare concrete still showing on the driveway. This second hit seems to be coming in just a bit cooler, but temps will still hover around 28 degrees at coldest part of the evening. Ain't no fluff here. And I swear if Joel uses the word 'fluff' one more time I will puke.

I obviously did not ski today. Meh.

The best snow has some body to it. Blower powder is overrated, particularly with modern equipment. I'll choose snow that has some "bounce" to it over pixie dust every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I was just offering some observations and what I thought was some useful information. Shaw Creek has running water and heated bathrooms and plenty of parking. Besides those amenities you will not be getting in the way of the snowplows trying to do their jobs. More vehicles camping in the Lobo lot than I have ever seen and it sucks when the plows can not get in and get it plowed out completely.

Believe me, I love the bounce. And blower is also amazing when you have the base. But we have neither at the moment. :/

Got 3" last night. Faucet just turned back on about 10 minutes ago. Temps still warm. Maybe this push will get us set up for a proper February. I'm still hopeful. Kinda.

What a crap season. I pretty much decided last month to chase sunshine instead of pow on the rare days I do ski. It's working out so far.

There were a LOT of people. But seems like the vast majority have no idea where to go at Wolf Creek and I had zero issues finding full, untracked lines until I left at 2:00pm.
