spring break is here in force!
spring break is here in force!
I've met quite a few college kids, with parents, on spring break.
But I skied Aspen and Snowmass today and there weren't any lines.
A fairly brisk wind, kept much of the terrain from turning.
Hopefully the spring breakers get too drunk and forget to ski on Friday/Saturday for the next snow blast.

Spring break crowd didn’t seem too bad at copper today. Tucker was really fun today with some great chalk and some pretty decent wind buff in the taco. Bumps holding up without too much crust on alpine. Groomers are quite firm but fun first thing.
What's this storm doing this weekend? Dust in crust or nice heavy bonding?
I also read through all of coppers master plan yesterday after seeing an article in the summit daily about expanding into Jacques peak. Interesting stuff in there. Some notable things: 4 person detachable lift up Jacques, lift up backside of tucker, union meadows lift, sail away glade lift, halfpipe carpet and double chair up the terrain park. Replace lumberjack w 6 pack, alpine with quad and super bee with 8 person and mid unload for racing. New flyers and T. rex grill. Some glading, more parking and improved snowmaking. No idea when or if this would all happen, I’ve heard the improvements for beginner area for a while now so I’d guess lumberjack is higher in that list of things. Alpine whenever they finish building things out down there.
Current season totals. Surprised Keystone has had more than Aspen and Snowmass. Copper and Winter Park in the lead. Wolf Creek and Purgatory are just abysmal.

Going off the SWE data for WC Pass, it is currently 5th lowest on this date since 1987. The lowest was 2002, and that should stay unchanged, but the next few spots are close. 8-13" forecast for Thursday.
Looks like May out there, dirt everywhere. Without a miracle March, it's going to be a really short spring
We lost a lot of snow in the yard when I was gone. But it seems like the beginning of March has been a bit of dud the last few years with the Season finishing up strong. All the Snotels around here are about average. It should be a good spring one way or the other.

We dodged the dust. Apparently it hitting Texas instead.
RFV should end up with a foot.
Breck is pretty normal, not really any dirt popping up except in the usual places it always does.
Yesterday actually skied great, helps if you're out the day before to find the best windbuff areas then ski the same areas the next day with snow.
My son came to visit. First time in about 6 years. Yesterday he said, now I know why you are living here. Hopefully forecast holds for today Would be nice to get another day out of this storm.

Where does your son live?
I'm lucky, my youngest lives in Glenwood, a mere 45 minutes away.
I bought them ski passes, so they bring my grandson often.

He lives in AK. I did mention grandkids a few times when we took a break in the lodge.
