^^^ Let’s hope. Durango had another fire firing up today and without rain, that area is just a tinderbox.

Even summit county seems to be browning up quite quickly from all this heat

Fire near Wolcott today. Bocco mountain area, looks like near the shooting range.

Not a lot of snow left but if you can find smooth stuff there is still some good corn with these clear nights and hot days

I've never experienced anything like this fire before. It's so close and now with the Burro Fire too pretty much half the horizon this afternoon was towering smoke clouds. The 416 fire went from 8700 acres friday to 16k acres yesterday evening and blew up again today. I'd expect at least 20k+ by tomorrow. Durango is awfully quiet for peak tourist season and Silverton is a smoked out ghost town. The firefighters have done a fantastic job protecting structures and property, but this thing is basically burning uncontrolled to the north and west right now through the San Juan National forest. The Burro fire probably more doubled in size today too. The smoke plum from it grew significantly today.

Do your rain dance folks. We are burning to the ground down here.

    Colorado Weather Discussion Thread

So dry everywhere below 8k on the front range. Lots of stuff browning out already, earliest I think I’ve seen some aspects this dry.

Really hope we get some moisture next week. My uncle who is firefighter based out of Tahoe says everyone expects Colorado to blow up this summer.... no idea what that’s worth but I certainly hope he is wrong.

On the bright side I tubed clear creek through golden today for my first time ever and that was way more insane than I expected. Had an absolute blast. Flipped 6 times, lost my Oakley’s, almost drowned at one point. Most fun and wild thing I’ve done in a while. I can not believe they rent those tubes out by the hundreds to random gapers with the river moving like it was today. What a shitshow

Here is some pics I took on a hike

Stage 3 closure coming tomorrow. Entire San Juan NF closing up shop.
I've got a 8 day road trip down there in 2 weeks. Looks like plans may change.
    Some help on the way:

Anyone been up skiing Fourth of July Bowl on Peak 10?

How rough is the road past the top of the Peak 9 lifts? It’s been a decade since I was up there...

We need this sooo bad. Please.

Durango might be closing their trails and open space too. Business is already tanking here.

Also, I'm really glad I moved into my van to work on a job all summer up near Purgatory and camp on SJNF land... At least I have standing job offers out of state.

Shhheeeeeiiittt. What's the likelyhood/time frame of this? I'm supposed to be in Durango all next week for work. Was going to bring the bike.

Chaos in Silverthorne. Not letting anyone into wilderness. Making people leave. One of my guys lives there. He's tweaking.
